Make Bingsu with us! 🍧

With the hot weather returning, it’s only fitting to enjoy a bowl (or two) of this cooling and delicious Korean dessert.

Bingsu is a Korean shaved ice dessert made from frozen milk and topped with all sorts of delicious ingredients. Traditionally, it’s served with sweet red bean, roasted soybean powder, chewy rice cakes (like injeolmi), and condensed milk.

The best part? You can easily make it at home!

What you’ll need:

BASE
• Milk (any type works)
• Condensed milk
• Water
• Ziplock bag

TOPPINGS
• Roasted bean powder (kinako or misutgaru)
• Sweet red bean
• Mochi (any flavour)
• Roasted nuts (optional)

The great thing about Bingsu is that you can completely customise the toppings to your liking. Add fruit, Oreo biscuits, chocolate, matcha, or anything else you love!

To make the Bingsu base:
• Mix the milk, condensed milk, and water.
• Transfer the mixture to a ziplock bag and freeze for at least 6 hours.
• Once frozen, grate it for a traditional shaved ice texture or smash it into small pieces like we did in the video.

Now for the fun part, decorating! 🍓✨

We topped ours with condensed milk, roasted soybean powder, mochi, sweet red bean, and roasted walnuts, but you can add whatever you like.

What would your dream bingsu toppings be? 👇🍧

Every street food lover should try Takoyaki (たこ焼き)🦑🇯🇵

Takoyaki literally means “grilled octopus” and is one of Japan’s most popular street foods. These crispy on the outside, soft on the inside savory bites are made from a batter filled with octopus, tenkasu (tempura scraps), beni shoga (pickled ginger), and green onion.

They are cooked in a special cast iron pan, similar to a poffertjespan but shaped into round balls. Once cooked, they are topped with takoyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, aonori (green laver flakes), and katsuobushi (bonito flakes).

Be warned though!! They may look ready to eat, but the inside is usually piping hot🥵.

Want to make your own? We have all the ingredients you need at home. Swipe to see the grocery list 👉🏼👉🏼

We also carry pre-made takoyaki in our frozen section😉. Just heat them up, add your toppings, and enjoy.

Have you tried takoyaki before? Let us know in the comments ❤️💬

At first glance, a Daruma might just look cute. But there’s much more to it than meets the eye 👁️

Daruma are traditional Japanese lucky charms that symbolize perseverance, determination, and good fortune. They are used to make wishes and set goals. Their rounded shape allows them to stand back up when tipped over, representing the idea of never giving up 💪🏼

Making a wish with a Daruma is simple:
1️⃣ Choose a wish or goal
2️⃣ Fill in the left eye while making your wish or setting your goal
3️⃣ Fill in the right eye when your wish comes true or your goal is achieved ✨

Daruma come in different colors, each carrying its own meaning:
❤️ Red: Good luck & protection
🤍 White: New beginnings, purity & achieving goals
💛 Gold/Yellow: Wealth, prosperity & success
💚 Green: Health, growth & well-being
💜 Purple: Wisdom, self-improvement & personal growth
🩷 Pink: Love, relationships & kindness
🖤 Black: Protection, strength & warding off bad luck

Which Daruma matches your wish? ❤️🤍💛💚💜🩷🖤
