Jagdamba Foods was founded in 2008 as a subsidiary of the Shanker Group with a singular vision: to upend and update the Nepali FMCG market. At the time, this massive sector of the Nepali market, dominated by sitting incumbents, was neglecting its customers and giving them very little value for their money. So we decided to enter the stagnant market and address the vacuum of quality products just a
s we have for so many other industries in the past. The company started with a single premium noodle offering, Miho, which, manufactured with industry standard setting ingredients and the very latest Japanese and Taiwanese technology, quickly became a beloved Nepali pastime snack. Our head offices are located in Kathmandu and our main manufacturing and distribution centers are strategically located in Bhairahawa, right next to the Indian border. In the short five years that have elapsed since then, our portfolio has grown to include over a dozen product offerings including eight different noodle brands targeted at every price point and market segment, as well as an assortment of flavored corn puff snacks and biscuits. A big reason for our continued success today is also expanding international network of diligent and committed dealers, which already covers every corner of the country, and is quickly growing outwards. In fact, our dealers have been so successful at representing and creating demand for our offerings that the bottlenecks in our sales today have completely to do with our production capacity; we aren’t able to keep up with them even round after round of rapid expansion. We are currently in the middle of building our first ever flour mill, which, imported from Switzerland, is among the most technologically advanced in the world. Once it is operational, we should be able to offer our customers an even higher quality product at even better prices. Needless to say, we have a long and exciting pipeline of exciting and diverse products in the works.
