THE BAZAAR Agriculture Cooperative (TBAC) is overarching cooperative representing a supply chain for fair-trade organic produce in Nepal. Members of TBAC are families (producers groups) and an innovative retail store in Pokhara. The cooperative aims to increase volume, quality and variety produced by farmers and to promote organic produce among the Nepali middle-class consumers in Pokhara (second largest city in Nepal). The retail store under TABC is named THE BAZAAR and includes an organic restaurant and a market for organic groceries, eco-products and fresh food produce. TBAC is balancing the opportunities of increasing consumerism by advocating a fair price for farmers and enabling organic produce. The cooperative is overseeing the supply chain and empowering the producing families collectively to increase volume, quality and variety of genuine Nepali produce. The member retail store ‘The BAZAAR’ is dedicated to sales and innovative marketing strategies for the producers. The families together offer strong competition to substitute for cheap imports.
