Closure announcement-Mangere Markets
After 29 remarkable years, Mangere Markets officially
closed on 30 May 2026.
Over the many years, Mangere Markets has proudly supported our community in countless ways. We have helped schools with sporting equipment, learning resources, iPads, and educational support for students. We were honoured to support local talent, including taking Joseph Parker under our wing while he was still at school
and helping him travel overseas to fight. He made us proud as a Mangere boy and showed many young people
that greatness can be achieved with hard work and determination.
We have also supported local boxing clubs, Riding for the Disabled, Starship Hospital, Ambury Farm, food banks
during Christmas and New Year, and funded a brand-new ambulance fitted with state-of-the-art equipment. One of our proudest contributions was funding a mobile heated swimming pool that travelled to schools, teaching children how to swim. The list of people, groups, and organisations we have supported over the years is simply too long to mention fully.
A large portion of the market’s funds also went back into keeping Mangere Town Centre clean, tidy, and running
smoothly. Over the years, we provided activities and services for the community, including a bouncy castle and funding Zumba classes, now temporarily overseen by the Mangere Health Resources Trust. Unsure of how long that will be hopefully taken over by 275.
We also funded the security cameras throughout the town centre to help keep our community safe.
The Board of Mangere Markets is deeply saddened to know that all of this support now comes to an end.
However, we are incredibly proud to know that we have quietly and effectively helped thousands of people within our community over the years. We never made a lot of noise about what we did, but together we achieved
something truly special.
Mangere Markets has always been far more than just a place to shop. It became a home for small businesses,
families, friendships, cultures, and community connections. We are sincerely grateful to have been part of
so many lives throughout the past 29 years.
“To all our stallholders, customers, staff, volunteers, and supporters — thank you for your loyalty, support, and the
memories we have shared together. Without each and every one of you, this journey would never have been
possible.”
Although this chapter has now come to a close, the memories and connections formed through Mangere Markets will remain with us forever. As we all move forward into a new chapter, we wish
everyone continued success, happiness, and all the very
best for the future.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of the Mangere Markets journey ❤️
