A lot of people have been asking why I started Mama Brooke’s Seafood Boil, so I thought I’d share my story. ❤️
To be honest, I’ve been to many markets and ordered seafood boils from different places over the years, but I could never find one that I truly loved. Then one day I tried a seafood boil from someone who inspired me more than they probably realise. After talking with them and trying their food, it sparked something in me and made me think, “Maybe I can do this too.”
I never thought I would be the type of person to start a business. There were so many times I doubted myself and wanted to give up before I even started. But after a lot of thinking, planning, and pushing myself outside my comfort zone, I decided to chase something I genuinely love.
The name Mama Brooke’s Seafood Boil means a lot to me. My family has always called me Mama Brooke rather than my government name, so it felt right to build my business around a name that means so much to me and my whānau. 💛
I also chose seafood boils because seafood is something my family, friends, and whānau love. I’ve always loved seafood myself, so it felt like the perfect choice.
I compared prices from many seafood vendors and noticed that seafood boils can often be quite expensive for families. I wanted to create something that people could enjoy without breaking the bank, while still giving them a delicious meal packed with flavour and quality ingredients.
But the biggest reason I started this business is for my family. Life is hard, bills are hard, and I wanted to step up and create something that could help provide a better future for my kids and my whānau. I want to be able to support my family, put food on the table, pay bills, clear debts, create opportunities, and build something I’m proud of.
I’m also hoping to use some of the money I earn from Mama Brooke’s Seafood Boil to build savings for my family’s future, while reinvesting the rest back into the business so I can continue growing, improving, and bringing bigger and better things to my customers. 💛
This business isn’t just about seafood boils. It’s about taking a chance on myself, chasing a dream, and building something from the ground up for the people I love most. ❤️
