The Orewa Beach Farmers Market opens every Sunday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Just 25 to 30 minutes’ drive north of Auckland, the Orewa Beach Farmers’ Market is great Sunday outing to take in the pleasures and attractions of the Hibiscus Coast as well as the opportunity to buy fresh local produce in a friendly and relaxed market atmosphere.

Rhonda our art rock artist, and one of the family of our OBFM has been away for a wee while dealing with some health issues. I'm pleased to let everyone know that Rhonda is doing well and will be back at the market when she feels well enough to be with us.
If you haven't caught up with Edward with his natural Rongoā balms and teas, he will be at the market this Sunday.
I will be checking out his balms for aching muscles and joints. It's winter and did I mention I'm not happy in the cold, sorry to bang on about that but I am sure I am not alone?😆

Good evening everyone. It seems like bed time already but it's only 4.50 pm. I must admit I really struggle with the cold and wet winters we get here.
Last weekend, I was rugged up like I was heading for the snow, looked across from me, and Stacey, Mahurangi Honey was just in a T/shirt and jeans, Bronwen, Wainui Mushrooms didn't have socks on, what!!.
Anyway we each deal with the weather as fits us personally, I'm a 5 layers kind of girl, if I could find a battery powered heated snow suit, trust me I would wear it and I'd still be hanging out in any sunshine rays that come my way. Speaking of rays, Ray, Sea Kai, will have a great selection of fresh and smoked fish on Sunday.
I know some of our followers have been asking when "Eco Wax" candles will be back and they will be at the market this Sunday.
Also new a food vendor, we welcome Helen, with her crepes as pictured, they look amazing.

Good afternoon everyone.
The weather looks pretty good for tomorrows market 🤞
We missed Mina and Yasar, our Turkish food vendors, last Sunday but they are back tomorrow.
It's great that our food vendors are preparing and cooking your food as it's ordered.
Speaking of preparing and cooking food. I had some smoked salmon gifted to me by Ray, Sea Kai last Sunday, thanks Ray.
I made a pretty yummy smoked fish pie, which I shared with my friends.
So easy, microwaved slices of potatoes, then quick fried them in olive oil. Smoked salmon, sour cream, capers, fresh dill, Lea and Perrins sauce, salt and ground pepper, lemon juice, just a little bit, then baked in the oven until bubbling. Delicious served with a fresh green salad.
It's Tamarillo season now and I know Pabla and the guy's, our amazing vege vendors have some at a great price. Currently in the supermarket they are sell for $22.99 per kg. Eeek!!

Hi everyone, it feels like the winter weather has really kicked in now, so I thought I'd post an inspirational pic from Christopher, Artearoa, who will be at the market on Sunday, to remind us, that although we are all having to don coats, hats and at times gumboots, we are officially in the 6th month of the year. The shortest day of the year is June 21st and from there on we are heading in the right direction for summer ☺.
The forecast for the market on Sunday, so far looks like a fine weather day, yay.
River Valley meats are now offering a bacon and egg sandwich along with their traditional sausage sizzle. Nothing like comfort food at this time of the year.

Good evening to you all. I hope you have had a great week. Mine has been a bit crazy, but I guess like everyone else this is kind of the "norm" these days.
The beautiful autumn colour pic is of a Persimmon tree close to my Saturday market in Matakana. So stunning that it inspired me to plant my own Persimmon tree at home. It's only 2 years old, so will take more years to reach the glory of the one in the photo. I don't even like Persimmons, to eat myself, and this year I got 2 fruit which the birds thoroughly enjoyed.
The cat pic is Oti, he's a Staffy dog in a cats body. He has the shoulders and chest of an All Black prop but he's been a bit off his game for the last couple of weeks.
With the help of my neighbour, thanks Judy, we finally managed to get him in a cat cage to get him to the vets today.
The vet had to sedate him to check him out and I have never known a cat that could still growl at a vet while sedated :-).
All's well with Oti, at the end of the day, maybe a torn muscle. Apparently I am supposed to keep him inside for the next couple of weeks, pain meds etc. That just isn't going to happen as Oti is smart as well as strong and he knows how to put his paw under the window latches, lift them up and push the windows open. There's not a window in my house that he can't open.
Anyway enough about me and Otis.
Clara, Art in Studio, has been away for a few weeks and we are so happy to have her back this Sunday with her jewellery creations.
Our lovely Ya, Thai food, is going home to Thailand for a few months in a couple of weeks, so make the most of her stunning Pad Thai while you can.
Over the next few months our market will be hosting students studying for their NCEA business courses, which requires them to create products and then go out and sell their products. They have to do a full cost assessment of producing what they sell with all overhead costs, profit and loss scenarios. At our market we have been hosting the students, for many years now. It's a way our market can contribute to the students in the Hibiscus Coast Area, so keep an eye out for the young folk with stalls, looking a bit nervous. Maybe just a little chat with them and let them tell you what they are doing, I am sure would be helpful.

Good evening everyone. A beautiful weather day today. I managed to get my lawns mowed so that's a bonus at this time of the year ☺. Winter has really kicked in with some pretty chilly mornings. JB our bread and pastry chef loves this time of year, the only time I have ever seen him put on a jacket is when he's not feeling well. I guess if you were born in Iceland your tolerance for the cold is in your DNA.
The market is chokka this Sunday. We welcome back Edward with his natural herbal balms and remedies. On my chat with Nick Rado this week, More FM Rodney, Nick reported that he'd had a chat with Edward and was given some herbs to drink as a tea. Nick mentioned his whole family had come down with the flu this week but he had escaped becoming unwell. The only difference was that he had been drinking Edwards Tea all week. Edward is so knowledgeable in the art of Ronga and has balms for muscle pain and more so stop by and have a chat with him.
Christopher Artearoa is back with us on Sunday, also Stuart with his wife Ginnys stunning ceramic creations, Eco wick is also back this week. I was so impressed by their stall last Sunday. Everything they have created is so beautiful and as their name suggest, they have taken great care to be environmentally sustainable.
So far we are looking to have a great weather day 🤞for the market.

Hi everyone, and a very Happy Mothers day to all the Mum's out there for tomorrow.
A very dear friend of mine has today become a "Nana" for the fist time and the joy that has bought to her and her husband was so very precious to see.
We all know that family dynamics can sometimes be challenging but within that, isn't it wonderful to have family. To be accepted for who you are, to have shared memories that no one else can have shared, growing up together as a family.
It's pretty special.
So this evening I am not going to post loads of photos of all the stall holders.
I will mention 2 new stall holders joining us tomorrow, Edward, I came across at my Matakana market last Saturday and encouraged him to join our market.
Edward is steeped in traditional Māori medicinal plants. He makes healing balms from our native plants. These include balms for eczema, restful sleep, coughs and chest support, healing tonic for woman. He is so knowledgeable, and has spent his life studying and working with our native plants.

We also welcome Eco wick. Below is a brief "blurb" from them.

Hi everyone, I thought I'd share, I'm so very fortunate to be able to live semi rural but so close to pretty much everywhere, and at times I get to see the most glorious sunsets. I'm counting my blessings a lot these days considering what's going on in the World at the moment.
We are truly lucky to be able to live in this country. It's not perfect but it's a pretty special place.
I have a sister who is volunteering in Ukraine for the second time and I get to see what the world doesn't get to see. Ordinary people just like us, with the same worries as us, trying to live a "normal" life. Nothing has been normal for them for over 4 years now but they don't give up and will never give up. The Ukrainian people stay determined, and they still dance in the streets for festivals. It's extraordinary and humbling.
So when you get up in the mornings, maybe take a moment to be grateful for what we all have and sometimes take for granted 🥰.

The market is fully booked this Sunday so plenty to see, eat and stock up your pantry for another week. See you all in the morning.

Well haven't we all been blessed with some wonderful sunny weather in the last week. And if you're like me, it's made a huge difference in my sense of well being, being able to get outside and enjoy some sunshine. And it looks like we are in for a lovely weekend of fine weather as well. I can almost hear all our stall holders heaving a collective sigh of relief for a fine weather forecast ☺.
A couple of times a month Stuart joins us at Orewa, he sells his wife' amazing ceramic creations, as you can see by the top two photos. Both porcelain and stone ware. It's pretty impressive what Ginny can create, so stop by and check out his stall this Sunday.
Mother's day is fast approaching and there's plenty of options for gifts for Mum at the market, jewellery, wood ware, plants for her garden and maybe some jam, relish or honey and you can "pre order" flowers from Nan so you can pick them up fresh on Mothers day.
