Hi! I’m Paola, but everyone calls me Poli. You usually only see my hands in my videos, so it’s time to say hello in person and share my story! 👋
Behind every alfajor from Top Treats, there are many different versions of me! 🤪 I’m the baker, the cook, the one filling every alfajor, packing your orders, replying to your messages, posting here, doing the shopping, the numbers, the invoices…
And yes… also the one who can prepare and sell 700 alfajores at a market! 😅 It’s a lot of work, but I love every second of it.
I’m originally from Mendoza, Argentina—a place famous for its wine, just like our beautiful Marlborough! That’s why this place felt like home from day one. Before moving to NZ, I spent 11 years as a Food Scientist and ran the Microbiology Lab during many vintages at Catena Zapata... 🔬🍷
That same passion for quality and meticulous attention to detail that I practiced in the lab for over a decade is exactly what I bring into my kitchen today at Top Treats Alfajores.✨
Life eventually led me to the best job: being a full-time mum in 2014. I chose to hit “pause” on the corporate world to focus on my family, and during that journey, the opportunity came up to move to New Zealand for my husband’s job in 2018. ✈️🇳🇿
The truth is, when you are far from home, you miss your roots. I started making alfajores just for my family and friends, but I loved the idea of sharing such an important part of Argentine culture with New Zealanders. Somewhere along the way, Top Treats was born in 2022. A little piece of Argentina, made by hand, on the other side of the world. 🇦🇷✨
Some of you have been here for a long time, and some of you are new (especially after my last reel! 👀), so thank you for being here. None of this would be possible without your support! ❤️
