π BEHIND THE SCENES AT HALSWELL FRESH β HOW WE ROLL π₯¦
As many of you know, Iβve been in the fruit & vege industry for 40 years, so itβs definitely not my first rodeo! π
Over those years Iβve done corporate supermarkets (didnβt really like that one!), spent 15 years with the original family-owned Raeward Fresh brand, which I absolutely loved β€οΈ, and eventually left when the corporates bought the brand.
A few years later, we decided to set up Halswell Fresh β and here we are!
One thing weβve always been very particular about is freshness.
We buy fresh produce from the market every day, 6 days a week. Our produce isnβt sitting around in a distribution centre waiting to be sold, losing valuable shelf life and freshness.
We also donβt buy pallets of produce just because they look cheap, only to have the girls spend hours sorting through them looking for the good stuff.
To us, thatβs false economics.
Sometimes something can look like a fantastic cheap deal, but thereβs a reason itβs cheap. It may have already had rot or deterioration through it and has simply been βfished outβ.
Yes, there is a place for everythingβ¦
Just not with me! π
We want you to be able to buy your fruit and vegetables, take them home, taste the freshness, and have them last more than a couple of days.
At the end of the day, we are customers too β and we want the same quality for our families that we want for yours. β€οΈ
So hereβs a little glimpse into how it works behind the scenes:
π We buy in the afternoon
π It arrives at the market early the next morning
β° Our load is ready to go around 5.30am
π₯¦ Most of our produce comes off one truck at the market and, all going well, straight onto our load
πͺ Then itβs on the shelves at Halswell Fresh ready for you
Itβs not always the easiest or cheapest way to do things.
But we believe itβs the right way.
Freshness first. Quality always. β€οΈ
Thatβs how we roll at Halswell Fresh.
Thanks for supporting our little local family business β it means more than you know. π₯°
