Today is World Environment Day, a time to highlight the importance of protecting our planet's natural resources 🌏

Bees play a crucial role in our ecosystem, providing them with food sources to forage on and plenty of fresh clean water is important to us.

Our bees natural environment is beautiful and we work hard to improve the land they call home. One of the ways we are doing this is by fencing off the waterways on our home farm. To date we have installed trough water systems for the cattle grazing the farm, erected approximately 8km of electric fencing along creeks & wetlands, and planted almost 10,000 native seedlings in the riparian margins of the fenced off creek areas.

By planting a variety of natives seedlings, including Mānuka, tī kōuka, and Harakeke, we aim to increase the biodiversity of the of the area and provide a safe natural habitat for native fauna to thrive. It will strengthen the ecological corridor from Moehau maunga to the Waikawau Estuary, along the Waikawau Stream as well as improve the water quality.

We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far and look forward to continuing with this work.

A special thank to Waikato Regional Council and Colville Junction for their assistance with this project and to our loyal customers, every jar of our honey you purchase supports us to continue restoring our land and the surrounding environment 🐝🍯💛

Winter is here in New Zealand, signalling to our bees to huddle down in their beehives for the cooler months ahead.

In the Northern Coromandel we are blessed to enjoy a subtropical climate year round, so even winter feels pretty cosy! Our little pollinators handle the cooler temperatures like champs, knowing that warmer days and Spring nectar flows are just around the corner 🐝🍯

Today we are celebrating one of our favourite days of the year - World Bee Day! 🌏🐝

World Bee Day is observed on 20 May each year to to raise awareness about the importance of bees. It was officially designated by the United Nations in 2017 to coincide with the birthday of Anton Janša, a pioneer in modern beekeeping.

This year please take a moment to think about the critical role bees play as pollinators in our agrifood systems and health of our planet's ecosystems.

Did you know that pollination is essential for agrifood systems, supporting the production of more than 75% of the world's crops, including fruits, vegetables, nuts & seeds.

We are proud to be guardians of these incredible pollinators and support food security in our remote rural community 🐝

Happy Mother’s Day! 💛 Have a wonderful day celebrating and showing appreciation to all the mums, grandmothers and mother-figures in your lives.

Did you know the queen bee is the mother of all the bees in hive? Queen bees are an essential part of a healthy bee colony, as they provide the eggs that become new workers, drones, and future queens, ensuring the survival of the hive. They definitely deserve to be pampered on Mother’s Day!

"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."

Today is ANZAC Day here in New Zealand which is an annual observance on 25 April each year. 'ANZAC' is an acronym for ‘Australian and New Zealand Army Corps’.

On 25 April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. These brave men became known as ANZAC'S and the pride they took in that name continues to this day.

Each year, we honour those who fought at Gallipoli with dawn services, and parades held around the country. It is a public holiday here in New Zealand, and also in Australia.
