BeeMused Notions

BeeMused Notions Inspired by my garden and bees, BeeMused Notions grows food, creates products for your body, cleaning and garden using minimal packaging.

BeeMused Notions: Lotions, potions, and actions to care for you and the planet. My BeeMused Notion is: What if everyone became a producer and we sold and bought with each other locally? Would it create little pockets of economic activity and build community? So, this is my experiment. BeeMused Notions are products and actions I use because of my desire to reduce consumption and planet impact. I am

a proponent of the Slow Living Movement; this means typical business practices are not going to suit me. If you live locally, (Kirikiriroa and Whaingaroa), are happy to try some of my creations and happy to pre order, I would love to talk with you and see what BeeMused Notions can provide.

My favourite soap is this pure simple soap. Made with coconut oil, lye and water. It is cleansing, with lovely creamy suds. It is versatile and because it keeps its shape can be used in the bathroom, laundry and even kept by the outside tap for dirty hands after gardening. This is an everyday soap and does not contain essential oils which are very resource hungry and in reality the perfume is just washed down the drain.

Every year I enjoy the winter miracle of Miner's Lettuce. It is a great boost to winter salads adding a sweeter taste to the strong flavours that make up the cold weather greens. Once spring starts, the Miner's Lettuce flowers, seeds and dies down to faithfully return the following winter. Another vegetable with little effort! My type of
gardening!

Providing ground cover is essential to protect the soil. Violets are a vigorous green ground cover, that has a lovely flower in winter which are edible. I like them in salads. The leaves are also edible but I found them rather fibrous.

I enjoy a relaxed approach with the garden allowing some plants to go to seed and others to flower. It creates food and spaces for the birds and invertebrates. At this time of the year the birds are hungry so I have to cover some of my tender greens and lettuces. I won't cover all my crop because we all need each other even if I don't understand the complexity of the relationship.

Busy afternoon shelling our seeds. I love to save my own seed and my favourites are lettuce and beans.
