Meet Milo π
This week our house reached next level βnoisyβ.
After 13 months of relocating Six Barrel Soda from Wellington to Hawkeβs Bay, navigating the challenge of bringing three brands together, watching one child finish school and head off to university, and another become independent almost overnightβ¦ we found the headspace to adopt a new puppy.
Milo is an 8-week-old Springer Spaniel and already has our hearts wrapped around his.
The last year has been exciting, exhausting, emotional and, at times, really hard. In the middle of all the change we lost our beautiful Heading dog, Tui, who had been part of our family for six years. Anyone who loves their animals like family knows how quiet a house feels after a loss like that.
At the same time, life kept moving. Businesses still needed running. Orders still needed packing. Kids still needed the space and support to work out who they are, where they belong, and what they want to do next.
From the outside, people often see the products, the brands, the new developments and weβre incredibly grateful for the stability and support weβve had through these economically turbulent times.
But behind every small business is a real family navigating life while still trying to build something meaningful.
This week has felt like a full-circle moment. Yes, weβre back to muddy paws, everything being chewed and disturbed sleep with a pup whining in the night as Milo adjusts to life without his litter mates. However, he's brought the joy back into our home - more laughter, more chaos, less quiet but we're ready to embrace this little fella.
Having Milo join our family, and eventually spend days in the office at Six Barrel Soda and St Andrews Limes, feels pretty special. π₯°
