Our Butchery team are pretty happy to have reclaimed some much-needed space following the recent renovations!

We’ve also added our new Any 3 for $25 cabinet, giving you even more choice when you’re stocking up for the week.

The department is looking great, and judging by the smiles, the team are pretty happy with it too!

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Thanks to everyone who had a guess at just how much concrete and steel has gone into Stage 1 of our earthquake strengthening work.

We had some great guesses, but the actual numbers might surprise you!
CONCRETE
A total of 53 cubic metres of concrete, weighing a massive 127,200 kg!

STEEL STRUCTURE & WALL PLATES
A total weight of 6,478 kg

That means Stage 1 involves more than 133,000 kg of concrete and steel combined!

And our winners...

🥁 Aaron Cunniffe managed to take out BOTH categories!

Aaron guessed:

Concrete: 130,000 kg
Actual: 127,200 kg
Just 2,800 kg out

Steel: 7,000 kg
Actual: 6,478 kg
Just 522 kg out

So, Aaron has won both $40 New World Hokitika vouchers, $80 in total!

HOW HEAVY IS OUR STRENGTHENING?

If you’ve been shopping with us lately, you’ll know there’s been a fair bit going on behind the scenes!
We’re making our way through a major earthquake strengthening project, with plenty of concrete and steel going into the store.
So, we thought we’d have a bit of fun and see how good your guessing is!

For Stage 1 of the strengthening work, can you guess:
The total weight of concrete in KG?
The total weight of structural steel & wall plates in KG?

Pop both guesses in one comment below:

We’ll have two winners:
One $40 voucher for the closest concrete guess.
One $40 voucher for the closest steel guess.

The winning figures are based on the information we currently have for Stage 1.
