🗺️ "It's a 45-minute loop," we said. "It'll be fun," we said. 🧭🤦♀️🤦♂️🐶
Look at that day. Blue skies. Barely a breath of wind. Riverton absolutely showing off. Look at us - calm, confident, completely in control.
This is footage of two people who have no idea what's about to happen to them.
The plan was simple. The Moores Lookout Track - a civilised 45-minute stroll to a treetop viewing platform. Jeans-appropriate. Breezy. Done by afternoon tea.
The platform remains, to this day, a complete myth to us. 🌲❌
Somewhere along the way we missed a turn so spectacularly that we accidentally enrolled in an entirely different walk - the Coastal Walking Track. Two hours. Rugged. No mercy. We can't even blame each other. Neither of us saw it coming. We just marched confidently into the wilderness like two people who had definitely read the map.
The bushwalk eventually spat us out onto the southern beaches. We weren't above the coastline on a lovely platform. We were in it, scrambling over rocks, through soft sand, under perfect blue skies. ☀️
🐾 Official Performance Reviews:
Bailey ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Unlimited beach. So many smells. 10/10 would trick my humans into a marathon again."
Us ❌ "We signed up for a looky-loo, not Bear Grylls: Riverton Edition."
We ended up making the ultimate call of shame - phoning for a rescue ride back to town. 🚙💨
Bailey slept for 24 hours. We spent the afternoon scrolling through photos, going "okay, it was actually stunning out there," and pretending that had been the plan all along.
(It had not been the plan all along.)
