We wanted to come on here to let everyone know what is happening. We have heard a ton of rumors flying around about the venue and just want to some clear things up.
Firstly, we have to say that the last year and a half of business has not been easy, we opened with a bang after Covid and things were looking great for a short time, but since the start of this year we have really struggled to keep the business afloat.
Everyone knows about Cyclone Gabrielle back in February. That was the start of the end for us in Napier. Since the cyclone, we have had a 39% drop in revenue. Post cyclone knock on effects, and then inflation doesn't help. The city is a ghost town most of the time, and we just can't compete with the other deals around. Free coffee until 11am a few doors down!? (No hate, just how are we meant to compete)
So. We have decided to close Harvest Deli down in Napier. Our last day of service will be Saturday, July 22nd (the weekend of art deco). We just can't sustain the losses any longer, we were hoping that things would improve and people would start coming back out in Napier, but honestly, it pretty dire.
While we are looking for a site in Auckland to move the deli to, we haven't yet found our venue, but hopefully, we will find somewhere soon.
We have decided to turn the front of the venue into a small liquor store and add in more seating for Teresa. We will still have coffee & croissants & pastries and the staple cured meats and cheeses during the day. Selling some really cool beers, bottled cocktails, wines, some quality tasty spirits, and even some cocktail making equipment.
For everyone asking, Teresa is sticking around - we really hope that you guys will come out and support the bar and the other locals because everywhere is really struggling at the moment. I know we aren't the only ones feeling it.
We want to thank our beautiful staff who very sadly we aren't able to keep on, if any good employers around have any sponsored work please dm me.
We want to thank our loyal customers who came back almost every day. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough people here to keep us going.
Auckland. We will see you soon.
