Throwback time!
Long before Pestell's Rai Bacon Company became what it is today, it all started with a small butchery called CBS Butchers.
Many people have asked what CBS stood for, it was named after Chris, Brian and Steve. Brian, a much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, played a huge part in building the values that still guide our business today.
The Pestell family built their reputation on quality products, friendly service, and a genuine passion for their craft. While a lot has changed over the years, our commitment to producing premium bacon and smallgoods remains exactly the same.
Looking back at these photo’s really puts things into perspective. Back in the 1980s, when the boys were completing their butchery apprenticeships, there were around 40 butcher shops throughout the Nelson region. If someone had said back then that one day there would be just our traditional butcher shop left standing, nobody would have believed it.
It reminds us how far we've come and how grateful we are for the support we've received along the way.
Do you remember CBS Butchers along Main Road Stoke next to the old Post Office?
