It’ll be a fresh start, but once it gets going, it'll be a lovely sunny spring day. Perfect weather for a hot coffee, some breakfast, and a wander through the stalls.

Come down hungry, grab some kai, check out the fresh produce, gifts, crafts, and local goodies, and enjoy a proper Rotorua Saturday morning.

Imagine having to leave home with your belongings in a black plastic bag. 💙

Last week we were pleased to welcome Linda Roil from Kids in Need Waikato and Rotorua Regional Co-ordinator Lena Stirrup to Rotary Rotorua North.

Kids in Need Waikato supports children aged 0–17 in foster care or being raised by whānau and caregivers, providing personalised care packs with clothing, shoes, toiletries, books, stationery and toys. 🎒👟📚

The charity currently supports around 1,500 children across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, while also supporting caregivers through events, retreats and local catch-ups such as the Rotorua KIN Coffee Group.

Rotary Rotorua North has supported Kids in Need for several years, including helping deliver Christmas packs in our area. 🎄🤝

Beautiful spring morning at Kuirau Park - and there’s plenty to tempt you down today. ☀️☕

Cold morning. Hot coffee. Something sizzling on the grill. Now that sounds like Saturday. ☀️☕🔥

Tomorrow is shaping up beautifully for a spring morning for the Kuirau Park Saturday Market - a crisp 6°C start, mostly sunny skies, and warming up to around 15°C.

And honestly… that cool morning air just makes the market food smell even better. 😋

Picture it:

☕ A hot coffee warming your hands
🥟 Fresh dumplings straight from the steamer
🔥 Something hot and tasty coming off the grill
🍩 A warm donut or churro you definitely didn’t plan on buying
🍊 Fresh produce to take home
🛍️ And stall after stall where you never quite know what you’ll discover

Come down hungry, take your time and have a wander.

Have breakfast. Grab something for later. Find something you weren’t looking for. Stop for a yarn with a stallholder. Maybe go home with a plant, some fresh kai, a bag of goodies… and considerably less willpower than you arrived with. 😂

The Kuirau Park Saturday Market is on again tomorrow morning, and with a few showers possible and the wetter weather looking more likely later in the day, it’s a good one to get down early and make the most of the morning. 🌦️

Grab a hot coffee, have some breakfast, wander the stalls and support the people who get up early every Saturday to bring their kai, produce and goodies to Kuirau Park. ❤️

It’s a good morning at Kuirau Park - and Jhana’s already been around to see who’s here! 👀☕

There’s a real mix at the Kuirau Park Saturday Market this morning, with plenty of familiar faces, a few newcomers and some serious breakfast decisions to make. 😋

Among the regulars, Mussel Madness, Vietway has its huge Vietnamese menu going, Eduardo and his wife are serving Mexican food and churros, and Harvey’s Kai has fried bread, bacon & egg fried-bread burgers, pāua and more.

And yes… Angry Bull already has a queue. 🐂🔥
Ryan’s spicy beef noodles continue to be one of those stalls where getting in early is a very good idea!

There’s plenty beyond hot food too:

🌱 Rebecca’s plants are looking great — Jhana reckons her landscaping background shows in the care she puts into them.

🍊 Gizzy Oranges are here with oranges, lemons, mandarins, avocados and walnuts.

🥬 The watercress man is here, for everyone who asks us each week!

🦪 Fresh seafood is on offer too, including flounder, kina, smoked fish, smoked mussels, fish pie and chowder.

🍿 Gerald’s Kettlecorn is on the go.

🔥 The hardworking team at Soul Feast already have the grills firing.

🛍️ There are handmade clay earrings, Māori-inspired taonga and jewellery, clothing, sunglasses, beauty products, plants, bric-a-brac and plenty more to browse.

And we’ve got some newer faces too. 👋

Pania from No Sleep Nation is here with her own entrepreneurial range, including homemade shake-and-vac home fragrance products, while Shane from NeeDo is at the market for the first time with the colourful sensory squishies the kids seem to love.

That’s the part of the market we really want to encourage: come down, meet the people behind the stalls and support the small operators who make Saturday mornings at Kuirau what they are. ❤️

The morning’s mild, the market’s busy, the kai smells good, and there’s plenty to discover.

Spring’s getting closer… and the market is the perfect place to feel it 👊

It’s been a busy few months behind the scenes as we work towards fundraising the last remaining funds to get a new skatepark built in Rotorua.

We have around $1 million fundraised towards the the new skatepark, which depending on how the park is built (in stages or all at once) is estimated to cost between $3.5 and $5m to build.

We have recently submitted funding applications for the rest of the money needed. We will hear back over the next couple months on if this is sucessful.

Once we hear back from funders, we will share with the community our concept skartepark designs for final feedback before creating a detailed design to be built.

We’re currently in talks with skatepark builders to understand their availability and ability to build the skatepark over the next couple years.

We’re working closely with the Rotorua Lakes Council on administrative matters around consenting, land use, funding and all sorts of matters!

We’re keeping Sport Bay of Plenty up to date as we progress the plan.

We’re also working with Pukeroa Oruwhata, who work with the Council with managing gifted landed, as Ngati Whakaue are mana whenua for the land we intend to build the skatepark on.

There’s many tasks going on behind the scenes and we’re working hard to make a desperately needed new skatepark for Rotorua a reality.
