We hate seeing fresh fruit go to waste when many people are unable to afford food for their families. Community Fruit Harvesting is a charity that picks unwanted fruit from backyards and orchards around New Zealand and shares it with those in need. We want you to get involved in any way you can. Nobody should go hungry while fruit falls to the ground and rots. Together we can make a big difference one fruit tree at a time.

How Community Fruit Harvesting began

The charity was started by Auckland North Shore resident Di Celliers in 2011. Di noticed that many people had fruit trees in their back yard that they couldn’t or didn’t want to pick and the fruit was falling to the ground and rotting. She couldn’t bear to see good, fresh food go to waste, especially when food prices were so high and many families were struggling to make ends meet. http://www.pickfruit.co.nz/
