Dusting off the slow cooker this week?

Grab some of Bill’s smoked ham hocks and off you go.

Slow Cooker Pea and Ham Soup

A cozy, hearty bowl that practically makes itself - smoky ham, creamy split peas, and warming aromatics all melting together low and slow.

500 grams dried green split peas, rinsed
1 smoked ham hock
1 large onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 medium carrots, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1.5 liters chicken stock
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Add the split peas, smoked ham hock, onion, garlic, carrots, celery, chicken stock, smoked paprika, bay leaf, and black pepper to the slow cooker and stir gently to combine. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 5 hours, until the peas are soft and the soup is thick and creamy. Remove the ham hock, shred the tender meat, and stir it back into the soup. Discard the bone and bay leaf, season with salt to taste, and serve hot with crusty bread 🥖
