Canastas Verdes - Valle Verde!

Canastas Verdes is a collaborative initiative of various women organic farmers in the Sacred Valley. With the goal of bringing the freshest, healthiest ecological produce straight to your home, Canastas Verdes is partnering with local restaurants to host pick-up points throughout the Valley where you can have your weekly basket delivered. Based on a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model, Canastas Verdes gather orders weekly to ensure stable sales for these small-scale farmers. This model guarantees the farmers sell what they harvest, thereby reducing produce waste and increasing income. The model works best when both farmers and consumers are committed to establishing an ongoing, transparent relationship: basket buyers will be invited to visit the farms and see where their produce is grown, and farmers will get to know the tastes and preferences of the individuals and families who enjoy their produce.

Those of us who live in the Sacred Valley know that the abundance of fresh produce is a blessing, but the lack of information about how that produce is grown is a hurdle. More and more dangerous unregulated chemicals are used on the fields from Pisac to Ollantaytambo...this is not only unhealthy to the soil and environment but to all of us purchasing unlabeled, unreliable fruits and vegetables at the markets.

Canastas Verdes is dedicated to organic methods (though not certified given the small scale of the farms) and permaculture practices (all the farmers completed a Permaculture Design Certificate in 2018 and are integrating those learnings in their production). They are dedicated to a healthy Valley and a healthy community. They ask you to support their efforts by purchasing organic and ordering through Canastas Verdes.
