Workshop Description:
This workshop introduces participants to the fundamental principles of coffee preparation and barista skills. Participants will gain knowledge of coffee history, bean processing, roasting, and grinding requirements, while developing practical competencies in espresso preparation, milk frothing, and beverage assembly. The session also includes hands-on training in manual brewing methods and an introduction to hand-poured latte art techniques. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to prepare classic café beverages, understand basic beverage costing, and create their own signature hot and iced coffee drinks.

Module Outline:
1. Introduction to Coffee
• Brief history of coffee
• Coffee cultivation and processing methods
• Roasting levels and flavor profiles
• Grinding requirements for different brewing methods
2. Espresso Machine Fundamentals
• Parts and functions of the espresso machine
• Basic operation and safety practices
• Cleaning and routine maintenance
3. Manual Brewing Techniques (Demonstration and Hands-On)
Participants will be introduced to alternative brewing methods:
• French Press
• Siphon (Syphon) Brewing

4. Espresso-Based Beverage Preparation (Demonstration and Hands-On)
Participants will learn the preparation of the following beverages Hot/Iced:
• Espresso
• Café Americano
• Café Latte
• Cappuccino
• Dark / White Mocha
• Caramel Macchiato
5. Matcha-Based Beverages
• Introduction to matcha preparation
• Basic matcha beverage applications
6. Milk Frothing Techniques
• Proper milk steaming and frothing
• Achieving the correct milk texture for espresso beverages
7. Latte Art Fundamentals
• Hand-pouring techniques
• Basic latte art designs:
• Heart
• Tulip
8. Basic Beverage Costing
• Introduction to drink costing
• Understanding ingredient cost and pricing considerations
9. Creative Beverage Application
• Participants will design and prepare their own hot and iced coffee beverage using the techniques learned during the workshop.
