PARADISE NO MORE
LOOK: A literal red sea now covers the once-famous Manjuyod White Sand Bar in Negros Oriental after a massive ethanol leak from the URC distillery in Bais City.
The spill caused widespread damage to marine life in the Tañon Strait, turning the clear waters murky red. The sandbar and dolphin-watching tours, among the area’s top tourist attractions and main sources of livelihood, are now temporarily affected as cleanup efforts continue.
