The rumors are true—Miag-ao is overflowing with quality red and white onions. But here is the situation: while the fields are full, families and restaurants in the 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 are still struggling with high prices and difficult access.

Between the rising costs of fuel and a system that relies on too many middlemen, our local fisherfolk and farmers are being cut off from the very communities that need them most. A farmer's harvest is their family’s support system, but without a seamless way to move that supply, everyone loses.

At the recent SustainAbility Directions 2026 summit, LECA proudly exhibited our framework for a smarter, more sustainable food system.

𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐚: 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧

The night was long, the wind howled through the fields, the rain poured without notice, and for a moment it felt as if everything we built was gone. Yet when the storm passed, something stronger remained—our will to rise again.

The soil may be soaked, the crops may be torn, but the hands that planted them still reach for the break of dawn. In Cebu, in Antique, in Iloilo, we are never alone. A land tested yet unbroken, a people weary yet unyielding.

Beneath the mud the seeds keep breathing, behind the fallen roofs hope keeps building, and in every drop of rain there is a voice repeating, that no storm can drown the courage that keeps beating.

We rise not just as farmers or producers but as dreamers, rebuilders, and believers, bound by one prayer, one purpose, one rhythm. To begin again and to keep moving on.

𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞

The winds are rising again. The skies grow heavy, and the fields we’ve sown with care tremble under the weight of the coming storm.

But if there is one thing I have learned from our producers and from the people who wake before dawn to tend the land, it is that hope is stronger than any typhoon.

The storm may shake our crops, flood our roads, and darken our homes, but it will never drown the spirit that keeps us together. When the winds pass and the waters recede, you will still find us (hands muddy, hearts steady) rebuilding, replanting, and believing.

So today, let us pray not only for safety but for strength. For every family close to the fields, for every hand that feeds our nation, and for every soul that chooses hope over fear.

Because when the fields rise again, so will we. 🤎🤍🌾
