Unity in Action: PECCI Leads Coastal Clean-Up and Turnover of Rehabilitated Basketball Court
On April 25, 2026, PECCI successfully carried out a meaningful day of service and community engagement, highlighted by a coastal clean-up drive and the formal turnover of a newly rehabilitated basketball court. The day started with a coastal clean-up drive held at Barangay Wawa Beach in Nasugbu, Batangas. The activity was led by PECCI Chairperson Alvin P. Santos, together with the Board of Directors, PECCI General Manager Sergio Navarra, SCD-TWG officers, and selected committee members. Joining the initiative were personnel from the Philippine National Police, 2nd Batangas Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd BPMFC), under the leadership of Force Commander PLTCol Garman G. Manabat.
This collaborative effort highlighted a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, aiming to preserve marine ecosystems, promote public health, and protect the natural environment for future generations. Following the clean-up drive is the formal turnover of the newly rehabilitated basketball court of the 2nd BPMFC. A short program was held to mark the occasion, during which SCD-TWG Oversight
Director Onesimo C. Martinez conveyed his appreciation to the police force for their steadfast dedication to maintaining peace and order in the community of Nasugbu. He emphasized that the upgraded facility will not only support physical fitness but also foster teamwork, camaraderie, and unity within the force and the community they serve. Marking the culmination of the partnership is the signing of the Deed of Donation headed by PECCI
Chairperson Alvin P. Santos and the Force Commander of 2nd BPMFC, PLTCol Garman G. Manabat.
In his acceptance message, PLTCol Manabat shared that the basketball court, originally constructed in 2001, had significantly deteriorated over time, with visible cracks and structural damage. He noted that this rehabilitation marks the first major restoration of the facility and expressed that it will now serve
as multiple purpose platform beyond basketball, accommodating various activities that will benefit the police personnel of 2nd BPMFC. He delightedly extended his heartfelt gratitude to PECCI for its generous support. As a gesture of appreciation, the Board of Directors received a framed “Balisong”, also called Batangas Knife – a symbol of Batangueño heritage and craftsmanship.
In closing, Chairperson Alvin P. Santos affirmed that the rehabilitated court will greatly contribute to the physical wellness and morale of the police force, while also providing a valuable recreational space for the neighboring community. He also cited the former PECCI Chairperson Ethel A. Soriano and Director Adelle C. Naig who were part in the initial recommendatory of the project. He concluded with PECCI’s uplifting slogan: “Kasi sa PECCI, ang Pagtulong, Masaya!”
