Project LAWA at BINHI of Golden Farmer's Association

This week, the members of Project LAWA at BINHI had a busy and productive week of activities at the garden. Due to the continuous rains experienced during the past few weeks, weeds and unwanted grasses grew rapidly, requiring the members to spend more time cleaning and maintaining the garden. The members regularly conducted weeding, clearing, and other garden maintenance activities to keep the area clean, organized, and conducive for healthy plant growth.

As the weather became sunny this week, the plants required more water. The members therefore made sure that the plants were watered regularly, especially during the warmer parts of the day, to prevent them from wilting and to support their continued growth.
The members also monitored the plants for possible pest infestations. As part of their preventive measures, they sprayed the plants with appropriate pest-control solutions to protect them from insects and other pests that could damage the crops.

In addition, the members inspected the condition of the growing plants and replaced those that were producing poor-quality or undesirable fruits. The replacement of these plants was done to maintain the productivity and quality of the garden and ensure that the available planting areas continue to produce healthy and useful crops.

Overall, the week was filled with various garden maintenance activities. During the past week, the members of the Golden Farmers Association actively participated in the maintenance and improvement of the Project LAWA at BINHI garden. The members focused primarily on cleaning and weeding the garden, as the scheduled monitoring of the project was approaching. They worked together to remove unwanted grasses and weeds, clean the pathways and planting areas, and ensure that the garden was properly maintained and presentable.
The members also continued to monitor the condition of the plants and maintained the different areas of the garden. Their cooperation and dedication helped improve the overall appearance of the project site and ensured that the garden was ready for the scheduled monitoring.
On Tuesday, the monitoring of Project LAWA at BINHI was conducted. The activity was attended by Ms. Inah, the project focal person, together with MSWDO Ma'am De Mesa, D.A. Coordinator Ma'am Chona, Ms. Gemma, and Ms. Leah. The monitoring team assessed and observed the condition of the garden, the activities being implemented, and the overall progress of the project.
The monitoring served as an opportunity to showcase the efforts of the Golden Farmers Association in maintaining the garden and sustaining the objectives of Project LAWA at BINHI. The members were grateful for the presence and guidance of the monitoring team and remained committed to continuing the proper maintenance of the garden.

This week, the activities under Project LAWA at BINHI were mainly focused on harvesting mature vegetables due to the continuous heavy rains experienced in the area. Because of the wet weather conditions, the members prioritized harvesting crops that were already ready for picking to prevent them from becoming overripe or damaged.

The members also finished planting camote (sweet potato) in the designated area of the garden. Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, they were able to complete the planting activity and ensure that the newly planted crops were properly established.

Other regular garden maintenance activities were limited because of the frequent rainfall. Watering was not necessary, while other activities requiring prolonged work in the garden were avoided to ensure the safety of the members and to prevent damage to the garden soil and crops.

The weekly meeting was also cancelled due to the heavy rains, as it was not safe and convenient for the members to gather. The association will resume its regular meeting and other garden activities once the weather conditions improve.

Overall, the week’s activities focused on maintaining the productivity of the garden through timely harvesting and completing the planting of camote while adjusting the work activities according to the prevailing rainy weather conditions. This week, the members of the Golden Farmers Association continued their regular activities in the Project LAWA at BINHI garden despite the rainy weather. Since there was sufficient rainfall throughout the week, watering of the plants was not necessary. Instead, the members focused on weeding to remove unwanted grasses and plants that grew rapidly because of the continuous rain. This helped maintain the cleanliness of the garden and allowed the vegetables to grow healthy without competition for nutrients.

The members also harvested mature vegetables that were ready for sale and consumption. In addition, the association successfully harvested tilapia from the fish pond. The harvested fish provided an additional source of food and income for the association, supporting the sustainability of the project.

Overall, the week's activities highlighted the members' commitment and teamwork in maintaining the garden and fishery despite the challenges brought by the rainy season. Their continuous efforts contribute to the success and long-term sustainability of Project LAWA at BINHI.

During the week, the members of the Golden Farmers Association actively carried out various activities to sustain and improve the Project LAWA at BINHI community garden.

Last Tuesday, the duty members harvested mature vegetables and sold the produce. The income generated will help support the sustainability of the project and future gardening activities.

Last Wednesday, the association received vegetable seeds from NUPAP and the Department of Agriculture (DA). These additional seeds will strengthen the garden by providing more crops to plant and ensuring continuous vegetable production.

Last Thursday, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) conducted a Basic First Aid Training for the members. The training enhanced their knowledge and skills in responding to emergencies that may occur in the garden, at home, or within the community. On the same day, an aerial shot of the community garden was also taken to document the project's progress and accomplishments.

Last Friday, the duty members maintained the garden by weeding, cleaning, and caring for the vegetables to keep the garden productive and healthy.

Last Saturday, the association held its weekly meeting to discuss updates, accomplishments,1 and upcoming activities related to Project LAWA at BINHI.

Last Sunday, the members continued maintaining the garden through regular cleaning and care of the crops to ensure their healthy growth.

Today, the duty members harvested ready-to-sell vegetables and prepared them for marketing. The proceeds from the sales will contribute to the sustainability and continuous development of Project LAWA at BINHI.

The Golden Farmers Association requested the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to conduct a Basic First Aid Training for their members.
