Our Story
The year was 1996 and I was looking for something I could create. It wasn’t for lack for anything to do. I was a type A mom of 2 “tweens” and I had a full time job in a bank. You could say, I had my hands full. But the kitchen always provided me with much comfort and it was a refuge from the stress of work. Playing around with a recipe I had seen on TV, I came up with the Apple Loaf Cake and to my surprise, it was hit! The family loved it and so did my friends so that was quickly followed by the Melt-in-the-Mouth Chocolate Cake.
That December and may Christmases after that, we gained a comfortable following. I was still able to keep my job and serve our orders in the midst of happy chaos. We were stretched to our limits but loved every minute of it.
Three years ago, I added Tinapa in Kaffir but had to put close our Christmas shop after that because there was just too much to do. The tweens had grown up, the eldest and my only girl now has 2 kids, I had 2 more boys who are also now into their teens and I’m getting a fresh boost of inspiration.
I’ve gone all around the world --- with my cookbooks --- but I came to realize that there’s nothing like comfort food. So here on Ms. D are the food that bring you home wherever that might be. Tinapa ... Adobo ... Bagoong ... Dulong ... Chocolate Cake ... Apple Loaf Cake ...
