The White Box Bakery

The White Box Bakery Sinful desserts -- made with real butter, sweet milk chocolate, sugar and absolutely no apologies. But, hey, life is short, so why not eat dessert first? Yum!

It began with one bite…:

Sounds like the opening of a really bad vampire novel—but I’m talking about my love affair with baking. I was six and my mother had just taken a freshly baked pineapple upside down skillet cake from the oven. I can still smell the brown sugar burnt just so, and see the fruit juice gently bubbling around the base of the cake. Then in one swift, well-practiced motion my mo

ther turned the cake upside down on the plate she had ready for just this moment. The yellow pineapples I had so carefully placed on the bottom of the skillet earlier were now on top. Baked to golden perfection, singed to surrender its sweet-sour flavor to a six-year-old quivering with anticipation. Like I said, it was love at first bite. That was then, this is now:

Since that day, I have had one grand affair after another with various baked goods. I remember places I visited, events I attended, even dinner dates, by what I had (or made) for dessert. I’ve had the pleasure of sharing some of my delightful creations with friends like you. Thanks to your encouragement, becoming a dessert diva is now my new calling! Personal favorites from my baking repertoire:

SILVANAS – What does perfection taste like? Bite into a silvana and find out. Two wafer-thin, crisp and light-as-air cashew cookies covered with sweet buttercream and generously sprinkled with baked-from-scratch cake crumbs. (PhP 360.00 for a pack of 12)

CANDY BAR COOKIE – Cookie recipes are not the stuff of rocket science. Flour, eggs, sugar, butter—no mystery ingredients, really. Except this version has my favorite candy bar instead of regular chocolate chips (hence, the name). It melts better and adds another dimension of flavor. I mix all those ordinary ingredients together with a secret twist to bring about an intense flavor explosion. One bite and the cookies by a certain Mrs-who-will-not-be-named will be nothing but a distant memory. (PhP 430.00 for a pack of 12)

“NM” OATMEAL COOKIE – This is THE Neiman Marcus cookie of Urban Myth fame! I have it on good authority that this is the same cookie recipe used by the upscale Dallas department store in their coffee shop. This is a cookie for grown-ups. Just a trace of sweetness, strong chocolate flavor but not overpowering, and hey, it’s got oatmeal – how great is that? It’s practically breakfast. And we all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day… (PhP 430.00 for a pack of 12)

P.S. I also sell my cookies as frozen cookie dough. They come as individual balls. No need to slice them – how easy is that? Place them two inches apart on a lined cookie sheet, pop into a preheated oven for about 15 minutes, and presto! You have cookies you can brag about—“Why yes, I made them myself…” (PhP 400.00 for a pack of 12)

LEMON SQUARES– The unmistakable tangy lemon flavor that bursts in your mouth is quickly followed by pure, light sweetness. A tug of war of flavors your palate will find irresistible and definitely unforgettable. (PhP 280.00 for one 8x8 inch whole cake; yields 9 or 16 pieces, depending on how you cut the cake)

There you have it, folks, an original offering of decadent delights. Yes, they are sinful desserts -- made with real butter, sweet milk chocolate, sugar and absolutely no apologies. HOW TO ORDER: Send me a private message on FB for pick-up/delivery schedule.
