Takoyaki is a popular Japanese street food that originated in Osaka.
It is a ball-shaped snack made with a wheat-based batter filled with small pieces of octopus (tako), hence the name "takoyaki."
The batter is cooked in a specially designed takoyaki pan, which has half-spherical molds.
The cooked takoyaki balls have a crispy outer layer and a soft, fluffy interior.
They are typically garnished with takoyaki sauce (similar to Worcestershire sauce), Japanese mayonnaise, dried bonito flakes, aonori (seaweed flakes), and sometimes topped with additional ingredients like green onion or pickled ginger.
Takoyaki is enjoyed as a delicious and savory snack in Japan and is a popular item at festivals, food stalls, and dedicated takoyaki shops.
