SiBOL Peoples’ Store is a development project of the Sibol ng Agham at Teknolohiya, Inc. (SIBAT) aimed at promoting and supporting organic food products of rural farming communities. The store mainly serves as a display center for organic food products, herbals and handicrafts. The organically produced vegetables, rice, herbal products and processed organic crops guarantee food safety, nutrition a
nd ecological protection. All proceeds generated by the Store are being used for the sustainable and ecological development of rural communities. As a venue for organic product promotions and market conduit of community products, SiBOL People’s Store is anchored within the larger Community-Based Enterprise Development Program of SIBAT. Community- Based Enterprise Development Program
Community-based or people-based enterprises are small scale rural-based enterprises primarily owned, managed and operated by members of a people’s organization in a community. SIBAT deems it necessary to complete the mainly production-based socio-economic development loop it has started with the farming communities, thus the establishment of the Community-based Enterprise Development Program. The introduction and adoption of organic production technologies in communities assisted by SIBAT have already reached a level of maturity in which surplus products are being generated. Adding value to the products and achieving premium market price for the optimum benefits of the communities is the ultimate aim of the Enterprise Development Program. This new program of SIBAT will spin off and propel community-based enterprise development in communities it has started production support. Thus, it will provide capacity building and support assistance on the following spheres of enterprise development work with the communities:
