NEWS SPLASH: Manila Water, pinalalakas ang Water Supply System laban sa banta ng El Niño | 12 May 2026

Bahagi ng long-term Water Supply Masterplan ng Manila Water, ang Calawis Water Treatment Plant (WTP) ay isang estratehikong hakbang upang matiyak ang sapat na supply sa East Zone sa gitna ng banta ng El Niño. Sa kapasidad na 80 million liters per day (MLD), ang naturang pasilidad ay naghahatid ng potable water para sa mahigit 900,000 residente sa Antipolo City at mga karatig-lugar.

Nagsisilbi itong mahalagang safety buffer upang mapanatili ang system stability at maiwasan ang malawakang service interruptions sa panahon ng tagtuyot. Sa pamamagitan ng pag-diversify ng water sources tulad ng Tayabasan River, nababawasan ang dependency sa Angat Dam at napapataas ang distribution efficiency para sa publiko. Ang paglalapit ng produksyon ng tubig sa mga customer ay tinitiyak ang tuloy-tuloy na supply at matatag na pressure ng tubig —isang kritikal na hakbang sa pagtugon sa tumataas na demand at epekto ng dry season.

Ayon sa United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), ang paggamit ng water-efficient aerators ay maaaring makapagpabawas ng konsumo ng tubig ng hanggang 30% at makakatipid ng humigit-kumulang 700 galon kada taon sa isang karaniwang tahanan.

Ang suplay ng tubig ay may hangganan. Tipirin ito at pangalagaan.

The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill Awards is the global benchmark for communication excellence, recognizing the highest level of professional achievement in the industry. Being named a Gold Quill Award recipient places the MWSS RO among the world’s leading communication practitioners and serves as a testament to the Office’s strategic insight, creative ex*****on, and measurable impact on a global scale.

At the prestigious 2026 Gold Quill Awards, the MWSS RO’s WCC and DAC, managed by its Public Information Department, were recognized among the best campaigns in the Communication Skills Division, Social Media category.

These campaigns have also earned top honors from IABC Philippines at the 21st Philippine Quill Awards in August 2025, including an Award of Merit in Sustainable Communications (Communication Skills Division, Social Media Category) and an Award of Excellence in Sustainable Communications (Communication Skills Division, Audio/Visual Category).
