Ever wonder what goes into a carton of our Certified Cage-Free Brown Eggs here at MJ Egg Farm, and why they carry a higher price tag than standard white factory eggs? 🌾🥚
It is a question we get a lot! Many people assume brown eggs are just naturally more expensive because they taste better or have a different nutritional value. But the truth is, the higher cost comes down to how we care for our birds and the specific breeds we raise.
Here is a peek behind the barn doors at what you are supporting when you buy from us:

🐓 1. Our Hens Have Big Appetites!
Egg color depends entirely on the breed of the chicken. Standard white eggs are laid by smaller birds that eat very little. Our beautiful brown eggs are laid by larger, heavier heritage breeds. Because our girls are bigger, they eat significantly more feed every single day. High-quality feed is our biggest investment, and happier, well-fed hens mean premium eggs!

🏡 2. We Invest in Freedom (The "Cage-Free" Factor)
Standard white eggs usually come from high-density, industrial caged facilities designed strictly for maximum profit. At MJ Egg Farm, our certified cage-free setup means our girls have room to roam, stretch their wings, dust bathe, and socialize inside the barns. Managing an open, cage-free environment requires much more land, specialized equipment, and intensive daily labor from our team—but we believe it is the right way to farm.

❤️ 3. Quality Over Mass Production
When you buy from a dedicated farm like ours, you aren't paying for corporate grocery store marketing. You are paying for ethical animal welfare, local agricultural sustainability, and a family-owned business that puts the health of the flock first.

The Bottom Line:
When you choose MJ Egg Farm, you are choosing an egg raised with care, respect, and room to move.
Thank you for supporting local farming and helping us give our hens a better life! 🍳✨

🐔☀️ Happy Hens Enjoying the Dry Weather! ☀️🐔
No rain today, and our Dominant CZ D102 hens are making the most of it! 🌿
With the ground nice and dry, the girls are busy scratching, foraging, dust bathing, and exploring their outdoor range. These natural behaviors are one of the many benefits of cage-free farming and help keep our hens healthy, active, and happy.
Watching them roam freely reminds us why we chose cage-free production—giving our birds the freedom to express their natural instincts while producing quality eggs for our community.
Fresh air, sunshine, and plenty of space to roam—just the way hens were meant to live. ❤️🥚

🐔 Protecting Our Brown Pullets from Newcastle Disease 💉
Keeping our flock healthy is always a top priority here at the farm! One of the most important vaccines we give our Tetra Brown pullets is for Newcastle Disease (ND) — a serious and highly contagious viral disease in poultry.
💡 Why vaccinate against Newcastle Disease?
✔️ Prevents sudden death and respiratory issues
✔️ Protects egg production performance
✔️ Keeps the whole flock safe from outbreaks
💉 Our vaccination approach:
We administer ND vaccine + IB through eye drops depending on the schedule and age of the birds. This ensures every pullet gets proper protection.
📅 Routine matters!
Vaccination is done on schedule to build strong immunity before they start laying eggs.
🌱 Healthy hens = quality eggs = happy customers!
We stay committed to raising strong, cage-free chickens the right way 💚

🐥 Day 1 at MJ Egg Farm
Our Brown egger day-old pullets are now settling into their brooder and they look very active and healthy!
After arriving from the airport this morning, the chicks were carefully placed in a warm brooding area with clean water and starter feed to help them recover from travel.
It’s always an exciting moment seeing them explore their new environment — chirping, drinking, and starting to eat. These little pullets will grow into strong cage-free layers that will produce fresh eggs for our community here in Bohol.
Healthy start, bright future! 🌿🥚
