π—¦π—œπ—˜π—₯π—₯π—˜π—π—” Empowering our marginalized communities by helping establish a sustainable livelihood & fair market.

Sierreza supports our local marginalized farmers, especially IPs, by securing a weekly demand for their harvest to give them a stable income. This will keep them from having to turn to destructive and dangerous livelihoods (logging, charcoal-making) just to earn fast cash for their everyday needs. By showing our partner farmers that people from "siyudad or patag" are willing to purchase their farm

-fresh, organic produce at fair prices, they will be encouraged to pursue and learn more about ways to farm fruits and vegetables in a sustainable, eco-friendly, and health conscious way. At the same time, we aim to be a channel where our customers can learn more about the people who produce our food, where our food came from, and how our food is produced. We want to have something more than just a trading relationship. We aim to establish a deeper connection between our farmers and us, consumers. We dream of communities supporting each other thru food and agriculture -- we call this "Community-Supported Agriculture". :)

Rainy days remind us of our old little cafΓ© -- especially our Black Rice Champorado and Hot Tableya. Miss nyo rin ba? πŸ₯°

Last month, I went to Sagada and got the chance to watch our local farmers harvest their rice... and tried out their mechanical thresher ("Irene" haha)! Ang galing, portable and no need to pay extra for fuel! 🀩

At syempre namakyaw tayo ng Sagada Balatinaw at Black and Red Rice. 😁 Balatinaw is suuuper perfect for champorado and Black Rice Biko. While their colored rice can be added to white rice (or kahit puro, masarap din!) for added nutrients and goodness. πŸ’š

We'll bring some of these precious grains on Saturday (our 8th ANNIVERSARY!!!) at the UPLB Saturday Bazaar. Come and get it! 😊

2026 quarterly meetings with one of our top clients, HEALTHY OPTIONS -- ensuring quality of products, fairness to our farmers, and integrity of production and service. πŸ’š

Healthy Options has been our constant client, supporting our farmers and our cause, since 2017. Special thanks to our friends in Good Food Community for helping us onboard. πŸ’š

This year, almost 9 years (mag iisang dekada naaa!) since our humble beginnings of supplying just bananas and lowland rootcrops from our IP farmers in Sierra Madre, which was later on complimented with the upland products of our partner organic farmers in the Cordilleras, we learned that we are now the 2nd biggest supplier of fresh produce to HO as of March 2026. Wow.

Tulong-tulong tayo. Tuloy-tuloy tayo. πŸ’šπŸ™

In July 2020, the pandemic forced us to close SIERREZA's zero-waste store and cafΓ© resto in Agapita, Los BaΓ±os and transfer our headquarters to this townhouse unit in Putho-Tuntungin. Our team decided to shift to an agri trading social enterprise so we can keep on supporting our farmer communities despite the lockdown and continue supplying fresh, healthy food to our customers.

It has been exactly 6 years since we transferred here at our curreant headquarters and on August 8th, we will be celebrating SIERREZA's 8th anniversary. πŸ’š

Sharing some milestones:

Earlier this year, we were given the opportunity to purchase the townhouse unit that we have rented and last June 24, 2026, in line with our commitment to sustainability, we also had the chance to do some renovations to improve our food processing area (with a little more to follow) and have a solar power setup installed --- we have been enjoying the fruits of that decision for the past 18 days and counting. 😊

Thank you, friends, for being with us every step of the way. πŸ₯°

More reminiscing to come in the next weeks until our anniversary. Watch out for some surprises! πŸ’š

Humbled and honored to share the stage together with Ms. Celine Murillo, Dr. William Dar, Dr. Jayeel Cornelio, and Mr. Walter Pacunanan.

See you tomorrow at the 1st National Patriot Research Conference (DOST-SEI) at Clark, Pampanga, where we get to talk to our country's science scholars about the importance of immersing ourselves in farming communities in order to get a better picture of what the ultimate purpose of research should be. πŸ’š

WHEN YOU SEE IT... 😁

An adorable miming just chilling under our Farmers' Table Setup at Pam and David's wedding... Na para bang may surprise appearance sya as part of the setup. 😁

We commend Fruella's Events Venue for their animal-friendly events space and for professionally informing the suppliers and client that there are free-roaming cats around and that they are not a nuisance. πŸ’š

We also appreciate the wedding guests for just letting the cats be, allowing the little furballs to make usisa in their conversations once in a while, quietly, by their feet. πŸ₯°

***More photos and full posts to come in the following days.

It has been a very busy past two weeks for us with back-to-back events setups. Exhausting, yes, but the feeling of gratefulness for the trust and support from our clients far exceeds it. Maraming, maraming salamat. Palagi. πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

GOOD NEWS NAMAN!
Nanay Baby's youngest daughter, Jenalyn, just finished her college degree! πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

Congratulations, Ambo! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

We are lucky and HUMBLED to have witnessed how Nanay Baby and Tatay Bien worked (very hard) together to help Ambo go through college. I remember them asking us for help in finding a second hand laptop that they paid in installments so she can use it for schoolwork... their tag-team where one works on their farm while the other works on others' farms to double their income... and those heart-to-heart talks with her to finish college first before focusing on lovelife hihi. πŸ₯°

And Ambo, during her first year, mustered the courage to ask for help in navigating a laptop and MS applications to keep up with what they need in school. Minsan may tutorial sessions pa kami sa gabi sa ibang subjects -- kahit nahihiya sya pero nilalakasan ang loob kasi she has a promise to keep and a dream to pursue. And then the following years, kinaya mo na mag-isa. Ang galing! Nakakaproud. Bravo, Ambo. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Working closely and building good relationships with our partner farmers for almost a decade now have taught me (and our team) so much about life. Being with them, experiencing life through their lens, have kept our feet on the ground and always grateful for what life gives us.

In the midst of all the crazy things happening in our country, may we find the spirit of community again. πŸ’šπŸ‡΅πŸ‡πŸ™

We usually see success and pretty setups in social media but most of the time, we do not see the unglamorous scenarios in the day-to-day operations of small businesses, initiatives, moreso of social enterprises.

Today, it is being stuck on the road for an entire day because our vehicle broke down in the middle of harvest pickup and deliveries. I couldn't count how many times I checked the quality of the fruits and vegetables, almost wishing that checking will help keep them fresh while the mechanic does his best. (***Pero alam nyo ba, ang galing kasi bumigay yung battery several meters away from a repair shop here in Pagsanjan. Amazing 🀩)

So what keeps us going? It is our friends, family, fellow social entreps, customers, clients, and those people around who, despite being inconvenienced by the unforeseen inconvenience, still do not have second thoughts on adjusting to our situation and offering help. Tapos nandyan pa rin sila, patuloy pa rin ang pagsuporta, na para bang hindi nadadalΓ’. πŸ’šπŸ™

THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING OUR VEHICULAR BREAKDOWN SITUATION TODAY. Pagod na kami pero salamat at nandyan pa rin kayo, cheering us on and praying that all goes well. πŸ’š

**as of posting, nandito pa rin kami sa mechanic. Pero ang galing kasi mahangin kahit mainit so okay pa rin ang veggies 😊

***Metro Manila deliveries are rescheduled to tomorrow, Los BaΓ±os deliveries will be moved to Friday.

Slowly but surely, our LIVELIHOOD AND LEARNING HUB for our partner farmers in Daraitan (now 5K Agri Coop) is coming to life! πŸ’š

The fuel crisis may slow us down but our farmers are not backing down. As they continue planting and harvesting crops despite uncertainties in transportation, their family members are helping us with the construction and renovations so we can finish our Community Project this year. At para maipakita na rin namin sa inyo. πŸ₯°

We go on site every Wednesday to pick up our partner farmers' farm-fresh harvests and deliver straight to our customers within 30 hours para super fresh. 😊 So para tipid, isinasabay na rin namin ang site inspection, delivery ng construction materials, and giving instructions for the next steps in the LLH renovation. Minsan umaabot kami ng 18 hours on the road pag Wednesdays hehe.. πŸ’ͺ

When the shell of our LLH is ready, we will tap our partners and maybe DA, DA-ATI, and DTI to provide assistance in setting up the processing facility and learning hub. SMALL STEPS, BASTA PASULONG! 😊

***You may not realize it, but every purchase you make with SIERREZA and our partner stores enables us to serve our communities like this. So THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TO SUPPORT LOCAL SOCIAL ENTERPRISES! πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š
