Today marks 27 years since Pakistan became the first Islamic nucle_ar pow_er. On 28 May 1998, Pakistan responded to India’s nuc_lear tests with five successful ato_mic detonations in Chaghi, Balochistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

This restored strategic balance in South Asia and cemented Pakistan’s defense capabilities. Youm-e-Takbeer is commemorated every year to honor this historic achievement.

A public holiday is observed nationwide, with special ceremonies held to pay tribute to the ar_med fo_rces and scientists behind the mission.

The military leadership reaffirmed their commitment to the nation's defense, calling Pakistan’s nuclear capability a national trust and symbol of public resolve.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, linked this year’s Youm-e-Takbeer to recent victories, calling it a moment of pride and resilience for the nation.
