Pakistan’s seafood industry has achieved a major milestone as seafood exports crossed the $500 million mark for the first time during fiscal year 2025–26. The achievement highlights the growing strength of the country’s maritime and export sectors.

Frozen fish remained Pakistan’s top seafood export category, while shrimps, prawns, and cuttlefish also contributed strongly to overall earnings. In the first half of the fiscal year alone, seafood exports reached 122,629 tonnes valued at $253.24 million, reflecting impressive year-on-year growth.

China continued to remain the largest export market for Pakistani seafood. Exports also expanded to Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Japan, and newer markets including Russia and the European Union.

The government is now focusing on expanding seafood processing zones and increasing value-added seafood exports to further strengthen Pakistan’s global trade position and boost foreign exchange earnings.
