Chicken qorma recipe
Ingredients:
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 4-5 green cardamom pods
- 4-5 cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a large pan or pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds, cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
2. Add chopped onions and cook until they turn golden brown.
3. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
4. Add chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are lightly browned on all sides.
5. In a separate bowl, whisk together yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Pour this mixture over the chicken and stir well to coat the chicken evenly.
6. Cover the pan and let the chicken cook in the yogurt mixture for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
7. Add the tomato puree to the pan and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8. Sprinkle garam masala powder over the chicken and mix well.
9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
