This Yaaq tree (Baobab) is located on top of a mountain in Buurhakabo.

Judging by the size and thickness of its trunk, it may have been standing there for more than 100 years.

Bisha Cagaaran was contacted by a resident of Buurhakabo who is concerned about protecting this historic tree.

As part of the effort to preserve the Yaaq tree and its heritage, Bisha Cagaaran has decided to propagate 5,000 seeds and distribute the new Baobab seedlings for planting.

Join us in protecting and restoring our indigenous trees, which are declining today.

Together, we can preserve this important natural heritage for future generations.

A Gift That Keeps Giving! 🌳

Bisha Cagaaran donated these beautiful trees to Imaam Cumar Primary & Secondary School, and they were planted on 24th March 2024.

Today, these trees have grown into a valuable part of the school environment, providing cleaner air, better ventilation, shade, and a greener learning atmosphere for both students and teachers. 🍃📚

What started as a simple act of planting trees has become a lasting investment in the health, well-being, and future of our children.

🌍 Plant a tree today. Give the next generation a healthier tomorrow. 💚

🌱 Bisha Cagaaran Brings Greener Future to Darmooley Primary and Secondary School ( Hiliwaa)🌳

Today, Bisha Cagaaran Tree Planting Initiative donated and planted trees at Darmooley Primary and Secondary School as part of its ongoing commitment to creating greener and healthier school environments.

Many schools across Somalia have very few trees, despite the country’s hot climate.

Planting trees in school compounds can make an important difference by providing natural shade, cooler surroundings, cleaner air, and protection from dust.

As these newly planted trees grow, we hope they will create a greener, fresher, and more comfortable environment for the students, teachers, and the wider school community.

Trees in schools provide many benefits.

They can help reduce heat around classrooms and playgrounds, improve air quality, reduce soil erosion, provide habitats for birds and other wildlife, and make school grounds more beautiful and welcoming.

They can also serve as a practical learning opportunity, helping students understand the importance of protecting the environment and responding to climate change.

Today’s school-greening activity was led by Mr. Abdirahman, Coordinator of Bisha Cagaaran, with the goal of encouraging schools and communities to take part in environmental conservation.

Planting a tree is only the beginning.

We encourage the students, teachers, and community members of Darmooley Primary and Secondary School to care for these trees, water them regularly, and protect them so they can grow and benefit future generations.

🌳 A greener school means a healthier learning environment.

Together, we can make Somalia’s schools greener—one tree at a time. 🌱

On 17th November 2024, Bisha Cagaaran donated a variety of trees to Lasareeti Women Mental Hospital.

The trees were planted around the hospital grounds to create a greener, healthier, and more peaceful environment for patients and staff.

We are happy to see that the trees have grown well and continue to bring beauty, shade, and fresh air to the hospital.

Ustaad Saeedo Sheikh Ciise discovered a tree growing in a small village today.

The tree was none other than the Senegal Acacia, locally known as Cadaad, one of Somalia’s valuable native trees that is now declining.

She spoke with the people in the village and encouraged them to protect and preserve the tree, especially at this critical time when many native trees are being cut down for charcoal production.

Protecting trees like Cadaad is essential for preserving Somalia’s natural heritage and ensuring that future generations can benefit from these important indigenous species
