หลวงพิชัยอาสา (พระยาพิชัยดาบหัก) ทหารเสือพระเจ้าตากสิน
พระยาพิชัยดาบหัก เป็นขุนนางในสมัยอยุธยาตอนปลายและธนบุรี ปรากฏชื่อในพระราชพงศาวดารเนื่องจากเป็นทหารเอกคู่พระทัยของสมเด็จพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี และเป็นผู้มีส่วนกอบกู้เอกราชของชาติไทยหลังการเสียกรุงศรีอยุธยาครั้งที่สอง มีชื่อเสียงอย่างยิ่งจากความกตัญญูกตเวทีและความกล้าหาญ หนึ่งในสี่ทหารเสือของสมเด็จพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี ได้แก่ หลวงราชเสน่หา (กรมพระราชวังบวรมหาสุรสิงหนาท), หลวงพิชัยอาสา (พระยาพิชัยดาบหัก), พระยาเชียงเงิน (พระยาสุโขทัย), หลวงพรหมเสนา (เจ้าพระยานครสวรรค์)
เดิมท่านชื่อ จ้อย เกิดที่บ้านห้วยคา อำเภอพิชัย จังหวัดอุตรดิตถ์ ในสมัยปลายกรุงศรีอยุธยา ศึกษาอยู่กับท่านพระครูวัดมหาธาตุหรือวัดใหญ่ เมืองพิชัย ภายหลัง จ้อยได้เปลี่ยนชื่อใหม่เป็นทองดี หรือ ทองดีฟันขาว มีความสามารถและชื่อเสียงอย่างยิ่งทั้งทางเชิงมวยและเชิงดาบ จนได้เข้ารับราชการกับสมเด็จพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี ตั้งแต่ครั้งดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นพระยาตาก ต่อมานายทองดีได้รับแต่งตั้งเป็นองครักษ์มีบรรดาศักดิ์เป็น "หลวงพิชัยอาสา" เมื่อรับราชการมีความดีความชอบจึงได้รับแต่งตั้งเป็น เจ้าหมื่นไวยวรนาถ พระยาสีหราชเดโช และพระยาพิชัย ผู้สำเร็จราชการครองเมืองพิชัย ซึ่งรับพระราชทานเครื่องยศเสมอเจ้าพระยาสุรสีห์ ตามลำดับ
ภายหลังข้าศึกยกทัพมาตีเมืองพิชัย 2 ครั้ง ในการรบครั้งที่ 2 พระยาพิชัยถือดาบสองมือออกต่อสู้จนดาบหักไปข้างหนึ่ง และรักษาเมืองไว้ได้ ดังนั้นจึงไดัรับสมญานามว่า "พระยาพิชัยดาบหัก"
บั้นปลายชีวิตของพระยาพิชัยดาบหัก ได้ขอตายตามสมเด็จพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี แต่ลูกหลานของท่านยังสืบเชื้อสายมาจนทุกวันนี้

Luang Phichai Asa (Phraya Phichai Dab Hak), a Tiger Soldier of King Taksin
Phraya Phichai Dab Hak was a nobleman during the late Ayutthaya and Thonburi periods. His name appears in the Royal Chronicles as a trusted general of King Taksin the Great and a key figure in restoring Thai independence after the Second Fall of Ayutthaya. He was renowned for his filial piety and bravery. He was one of King Taksin's Four Tiger Soldiers, along with Luang Ratchasena (Krom Phra Ratchawang Bowon Maha Sura Singhanat), Luang Phichai Asa (Phraya Phichai Dab Hak), Phraya Chiang Ngern (Phraya Sukhothai), and Luang Phrom Sena (Chao Phraya Nakhon Sawan).
Originally named Joi, he was born in Ban Huai Kha, Phichai District, Uttaradit Province, during the late Ayutthaya period. He studied with the abbot of Wat Mahathat (also known as Wat Yai) in Phichai. Later, Joi changed his name to Thongdee or Thongdee Fan Khao. He was highly skilled and renowned in both boxing and swordsmanship, eventually entering the service of King Taksin the Great, serving as Phraya Taksin. Thongdee was later appointed as a bodyguard with the title of "Luang Phichai Asa." Due to his outstanding service, he was appointed Chao Muen Waiworanat, Phraya Siharat Decho, and Phraya Phichai, the regent of Phichai, respectively. He was bestowed the same rank as Chao Phraya Surasee.
After the enemy attacked Phichai twice, in the second battle, Phraya Phichai fought with a double sword, breaking one of his swords. He was able to defend the city, thus earning the nickname "Phraya Phichai Dab Hak."
Toward the end of his life, Phraya Phichai Dab Hak requested to follow King Taksin of Thonburi, but his descendants continue to carry on his lineage to this day.
