The gates have finally been delivered and we’re starting to pull water lines.

I’m so excited to get this finished and put the cattle in it.

I’m still having a bit of a time believing this is actually real.

The past few years we’ve been feeding in 3-4 different locations and hauling feed to all but one of them. So, feeding, barn cleaning, animal care…the whole twice daily routine. It took forever.

The one barn we couldn’t get into with the feed mixer if the weather got bad (sliding on ice down the side of a large hill with 3 tons of feed and equipment pushing you is not fun) so we had to plan ahead or haul umpteen loads with a buggy if the weather didn’t follow the weather report. And we all know how well the weather man is at that 🙄 and we also all know how well planning works on a farm 😂

The others weren’t set up to feed out of a mixer so we shoveled tons and tons and tons (literally) of feed. That’s a workout.

It took a lot of time and a lot of effort. But, we’d have never NOT done it. Because, even though it was hard and took forever, we were able to do what we loved.

Alright, that’s enough sappy stuff for the day, gotta go check cows.

Sweet corn season is officially over!

I just want to thank all of you for your continued support that keeps our sweet corn patch growing year after year.

In the 10 days of picking, we (hand) picked and sacked nearly 15,000 ears of sweet corn.

We sold a lot of sweet corn but we were also able to give away a pile as well.
