NEW RECIPE! “Soft-Bake” Chocolate Chip Cookies. 🍪🍪🍪

I’ve gotta admit... I’ve never really been a crispy cookie person. So, when Liz asked if I wanted to adjust our cookie recipe to make them soft-bake, I quickly jumped at the opportunity!

I still remember the first time I had a soft-bake cookie as a kid and being completely blown away by it. As someone who was always obsessed with cooking and baking, the idea that a cookie could stay soft felt kind of magical.

Obviously, nothing beats a warm cookie fresh out of the oven. But ever since then, I’ve always been chasing that same texture; tender, chewy, soft all the way through. You know… the opposite of taking one bite and wearing half the cookie as crumbs.

The first time I worked in a professional bakery, one of the first questions I asked the pastry chef was how to make cookies stay soft. Turns out it’s not nearly as complicated as I imagined. Since then, I’ve been making cookies for friends, family, and work that keep that soft texture I love so much.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. -Carlos

Baby greens are back!

So, you better get ‘em while they are here cause it’s heating up this week and that means a change in seasons is upon us! With freezing temps reached throughout the Albuquerque Valley and 90° temperatures next week, farming greens in the desert is a true super power! And we think Ashokra grows some of the best spring greens around!

When it dips below freezing, these tender greens can get snapped, leaving crunchy brown tips. When it’s too hot, they start to flower, making the flavor bitter. If farmers are lucky they can get a few harvests off a bed of greens while it’s not too cold and before it’s too hot, but with weather patterns shifting it’s harder and harder to plan for an abundant harvest. Supporting local farmers isn’t just about shopping local or supporting small business, it’s about investing in the folks who are adapting to and learning from the massive changes that are afoot in our local ecosystem. We need resilient food systems more than ever and we need the superheroes who grow our food to be substantially supported so they can keep showing up to the exhausting and often discouraging labor of farming. We feel honored by the produce which comes through our doors every day! AND we know that no price on the shelf can ever truly account for the labor and love the farmers bring to their fields. tiny grocer ABQ aims to celebrate the farmers, support them in their labor and help y’all enjoy their top notch veggies in your kitchens and ours!

Come by this week to load up on some yummy greens: arugula, mixed mustard, baby kale & mizuna! Boost your body with some vitamins and taste the flavor of the land and the care that folks put into their crops!
