Two Sisters Tap Room and Deli was not always a man with a family and a love of craft beer. What some people don’t know is that before it was Two Sisters, or even E & S Mart , it was D & M Mart - a namesake of the owner’s Denise and Mike. As time went on and their daughters aged from ice cream and hot dogs to bar food and beer - the store also evolved and thus became not only the family watering hole, but a place we hoped to be a staple for our community.
For some, Two Sisters has been just a cool map dot when passing through while for others it has been their favorite weekly meal. It has been a place for celebrations, business meetings, date nights, or just a place to grab a BBQ sandwich and a cold beer after a long day.
In recent months, Mike has been dealing with a degenerative memory condition and has been navigating the next steps for the restaurant. As some have questioned and many have wondered, Two Sisters Tap Room is officially closed. It has been the ride of a lifetime, and we are thankful for each and every person who has worked, dined, or stopped in to enjoy a beer within these walls.
For us, Two Sisters has been a second home to gather with friends, to solve the world’s problems, and to watch our own family grow from being just two sisters to two sisters, two sons-in-law, and 5 grandchildren. More than any business, our family has been the greatest success of our lives. Serving this community has meant so much, and we are thankful for the memories and relationships built along the way but are glad that this time will allow Mike to enjoy a well-earned retirement.
With that, this new season has reminded us just how precious life and health truly are. Our hope is that it serves as a gentle reminder to live intentionally, love your people well, and in the words of Ernest Hemingway, “Never take a seat when you can stand at the bar.” We look forward to seeing you in town, at a ball game, or on the river!
