PLANTING SEASON HAS BEGUN!

Our seedlings have sprouted, a few things have officially made their way into the ground, and the Rooster garden is starting to wake up! 🌱

Can you guess what we have growing so far?
We’ve got some fun things in the works this season!

And speaking of growing… we’ve seen a LOT of curiosity about those EXTREMELY HOT PEPPERS 😏

We’ve got a few going now… but just you wait and see what we have planned for these garden beds this season. 🌶️🔥🌶️

We’ve got SQUASHES FOR DAYS! Some varieties you already know and love, and some that — knowing us — you’ve hopefully never even heard of before.

Perfect for soups, roasting, stuffing, baking and all those cozy fall recipes we’ve been waiting for. 🎃🍂

🌿🐔 FARMER HIGHLIGHT🐔🌿

This week we’re shining a spotlight on one of our very own Alva neighbors — Altamont Farms!

Located right here in Alva, Florida, Altamont Farms is a family-run farm raising pasture-raised chickens and eggs for our local community.

And we love what they’re all about. ❤️

🐔 Their chickens are raised on fresh grass, with their coops moved every day so the birds have access to new pasture.

☀️ They grow slowly and naturally, enjoying plenty of Florida sunshine along the way.

🌾 They’re fed non-GMO feed and given fresh water every day.

🥚 Their pasture-raised eggs and fresh chickens are sold locally — keeping what’s raised here close to home instead of sending it through warehouses and long-distance shipping.

Since 2001, Altamont Farms has been committed to raising poultry on a small scale and doing the work themselves — from hauling water and caring for the birds to packaging their products for market. It’s truly farm-to-table, the local way.

One of the best parts of what we do at Roosters is connecting our community with amazing local farmers. This week we’re excited to highlight Cypress Creek Farms and Ranch, a family-owned farm right here in Alva, Florida! Im sure you’ve seen their goodies here around the store for some time now.

Their dedication to sustainable farming and raising quality food is something we’re proud to support. From their locally raised beef and pasture-raised pork to their farm-fresh eggs and beautiful, crisp lettuce, every product reflects the care they put into their farm and their animals.

🍃 We are picking OKRA fresh from our fields! The perfect Florida Summer crop is here and happy! We are going to focus on the okra rather than our sad Black Eyed Peas that just couldn’t pull it together 💔 We are sorry and will try again next year!
