When we first moved to our homestead, we had 4 children, and in the following years, added 3 more. My husband and I had a bargain: I would take care of diapers, and he would take care of snakes. I knew that diapers would one day end, but snakes would not. So I haven’t changed diapers in over 24 years, but this morning I found a very small garden snake in my okra, resting on its leaves. Snakes are not gone, but my horrible squeamishness is. Dear husband was not called to execute snake. Have I gotten too old or tired to care? Hmm.
