The Story of Big Dan’s Last Stand

I’m Big Dan, and I just about didn’t make it to my last stand.

For the last ten years I couldn’t walk across the room because I couldn’t breathe due to a chronic lung disease. My breathing capacity was less than 19%. I was on oxygen full-time and had a very limited life – which sucked.

In 2018 I was very blessed to finally get on the lung transplant list. In August of that same year, I received a double lung transplant. And sucking air became awesome once more!

Now I can run down the block, up the stairs and chase after my wife of forty years. To say that each breath is a blessing is a huge understatement for me – and I truly appreciate every gulp of air I have been given with these new lungs.
