Our Seed CSA membership for Siskiyou Seeds opens soon, on 11/1/24. Siskiyou Seeds is practicing ways to build a deeper sense of community around seeds. At the core, the Seed CSA is striving for that. It has evolved to embody our effort to de-commodify seed, which we strongly believe is a resource that belongs in the commons (like air, or water).

I'd like to share an essay that I have been working on for nearly a year about land use patterns in SW Oregon and how we struggle to evolve from a "Pioneer Mindset" that leads to boom and bust cycles and fails to achieve true resilient regenerative community. Please read, share your thoughts and share with friends who may find this interesting. Thanks!

I have pondered the question of why the predominant settlement patterns of the Southern Oregon region seem to have stagnated at a Pioneer…

Hey good people! I have been offering this course for 11 years now. I used to do so both Spring and Fall but I have found that most people are too busy in spring so now it's a fall only event. it is the quintessential seed saving event in the USA as most of the non-profits that proclaim to focus on seed issues have lost the plot. This time of year is amazing in terms of seeds being at the pinnacle of maturity. We will delve deep into epigenetics, adaptation, plus all the basics of on farm seed saving. we have so many beautiful seed crops coming to maturity right then. This is a very special opportunity to gain hands on kinesthetic experience that is unparalleled in North America.
In precarious times seed saving makes more sense than ever!
