Construction of the Meat House began in 2021. By May 2022, after construction, equipment installation and regulatory approvals, we opened the doors.
The vision was bigger than a retail meat counter. We built an operation capable of receiving livestock, processing, cutting and packaging meat, filling wholesale orders, delivering product, and selling directly to customers.
It took a substantial investment in land, facilities and specialized equipment to get here.

It Hasn't Always Been Easy
We also want to be straightforward about why AW Farms is where it is today.
Building this business required more capital than anticipated. Construction costs increased. Meat and commodity margins tightened. We expanded into a second retail location that did not work out. And we made operating decisions along the way that, in hindsight, we would have handled differently.
Eventually, the debt became more than the business could support.
That is why AW Farms is now in Chapter 11 and why the assets are being offered for sale through a Court-supervised process.

Kentucky archery deer season is officially upon us, and AW Meat House is ready for hunters!

We are accepting deer for processing 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout deer season. If you need to drop off a deer after regular business hours, call us at 606-939-6770 and let us know you're coming. We will arrange to meet you for drop-off.

Looking for another reason to get into the woods? The AW Meat House Doe Down Hunting Challenge is coming September 20-26, 2026.

Two-person teams will compete for cash prizes, sponsor-funded awards, and bragging rights while donating qualifying antlerless deer in support of Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry.

Registration is officially open for the 2026 AW Meat House Doe Down Hunting Challenge, September 20–26.

Grab a hunting partner and see what you can do.

• $100 per two-person team
• 100% of entry fees go back into the cash purse
• 60% of the purse goes to Most Qualifying Deer
• 40% goes to Big Doe
• Sponsor-backed Empty Quiver Award
• Represent a participating local sponsor
• The more teams that enter, the bigger the purse gets

And here’s the part that makes the whole thing worthwhile:

Every qualifying deer is donated in support of Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry.

Zone 1 allows unlimited antlerless harvest, so we’re putting a little competition behind filling freezers for Kentucky families who need it.

The AW Meat House Doe Down Hunting Challenge runs September 20–26, bringing a little competition to deer season for a good reason.

Here’s the rundown:
• 2 hunters per team
• $100 team entry
• 100% of team entry fees go back into the cash purse
• Compete for Most Qualifying Deer and Big Doe
• A sponsor-backed Empty Quiver Award is also up for grabs
• Choose a participating local sponsor to represent throughout the challenge
• Every qualifying deer is donated in support of Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry

And the more teams that enter, the bigger the cash purse gets.

Final sign-ups will take place at Feud for Good on September 19, where we’ll reveal the complete cash purse, sponsor prizes, and more.
