The blackened catfish is the real star here anyway 😮‍💨

This po’boy reminded me why i’m taking my time with Taboo Foodz products. The fish? Solid. The seasoning? Solid. The remoulade? BABY 😭🔥

But the bread still not where i need it to be.

I’m teaching myself how to make a gluten-free French bread/sub roll that actually holds up to a real po’boy without falling apart… and until i figure that out, this sandwich version won’t officially go on sale yet.

Now the blackened catfish itself? That’s already part of my original menu and definitely available 👀 because honestly… it’s the heart of this whole recipe anyway.

but BEFORE y’all start…

i ate a few cubes of my halal steak first 👀yeah… that part matters.

first sip of the juice? STRONG.like concentrated sweet, hit-you-in-the-chest type energy.

so i drank some off the top, then poured hot water in the jar, let it melt, shook it up and turned it into this smooth pineapple infusion with ice chunks still floating in it…

AND… i added 2 scoops of Ovasitolso yeah… i had to finish it lol

here’s the science without making it boring:

🍍 pineapple has bromelain → helps break down food + reduce bloating🍍 about 50g natural sugar in that whole jar 😅

BUT the steak first?that protein slowed everything down.

translation:✨ less of a sugar spike✨ more steady energy✨ better digestion instead of your stomach fighting for its life

so what i really did was:protein → then fruit → then hydration

that’s how you enjoy what you love WITHOUT wrecking your body… especially with PCOS + insulin resistance

the goal isn’t to avoid fruit…it’s to stop drinking it on an empty stomach like we used to 😭

but baby… my stomach feel LIGHTand that bloated feeling? gone.

this that intentional healing… not guessing 🍍✨

you ever notice how some meat just taste… cleaner?

i didn’t fully get it either until i started buying halal meat.

and no… it’s not just a “religious thing”
it’s a process thing

halal meat means:
• the animal was healthy and well-treated
• it was slaughtered humanely and intentionally
• and most importantly… the blood is fully drained

and that last part?
that’s where the difference is.

blood holds a lot of the impurities, toxins, and that strong “gamey” taste people be trying to season away…

so when it’s removed properly, you get:
• cleaner flavor
• better texture
• less smell when cooking

now let’s be real…

yeah you can get 5 packs of meat for $25
but a lot of that is mass-produced, injected, and sitting in preservatives

what i cook with?
fresher cuts… better sourcing… more intention behind it

that’s why my food taste the way it do.

And let me tell you…

My boil is not like the crab boil place.

I don’t drown it in heavy salt and butter.
I use ghee for my shebang sauce.

Higher smoke point.
Cleaner finish.
Still glossy. Still dripping.

The crab boil seasoning?
Homemade.

Okay so boom 😌
I’m giving my review of Tika Bowls & Tacos in Arlington, TX.

I got goat meat for the protein (and yes… it was hittin’).
This is how I cheat on my diet without falling all the way off:

• chickpeas
• cabbage
• brown rice
• bell pepper
• onion
• pico
• cilantro sauce

…and I even got a lil sour cream this time 😭🤏🏽

It was flavorful, filling, and didn’t have me feeling heavy after.
This is one of those “I’m still trying but I want real food” meals.

Would I get it again?

🍗 How I make it (save this):
1️⃣ Clean and prep chicken
2️⃣ Marinate with Walker’s Island Marinade (24 hours is best)
3️⃣ Season with Everything & Everything Seasoning
4️⃣ Place in pan and into the oven

🔥 Oven method (easy mode):
• Bake at 400° for 40 minutes
• After 30 minutes, broil 5 minutes
• Turn oven off and let it sit 5 minutes
• Don’t touch it. Let it rest.

🥗 Meal prep made easy:
All you need is one or two sides, a quick pot of rice, and a green veggie and it works every time.
This also pairs perfectly with salad if you want it pre-made for the week.
