Most people might be a little put out about the weather, but dark, gloomy, stormy and spooky are TOTALLY my bag. 😂🖤🍂 Gimme ALL the fall feels!!

And fall feels + a Friday night fish fry? FANTASTIC!!! 🙌🐟

Ashland Ohio Legion Post 88 FISH FRIES ARE BACK! 🎉🐟 The first one is TOMORROW at 5 PM, and they’re open to the public! Now THAT’S how you kick off a Friday!

🏚️ Ashland County Historical Society

* 🕯️ Dark History Tour at the Manor House — October 23 & 24. Tickets available on their website. This one is for ages 17+ due to some of the content. Tickets are $10 each.
* 🎃 Halloween House at the Freer Home — October 24 & 25 and October 30–November 1, from 6–8 PM. Family-friendly fun with kids’ crafts and a scavenger hunt! $3 for adults, $1 for kids, and free for children under 3.

And don’t forget all the great programs happening through the Ashland Public Library Ohio, Ashland County Park District, and Ashland Chair Wellness Community — which just added a NEW chair yoga class! 🧘‍♀️ The chair wellness classes are always FREE. ❤️

So whether you’re into spooky history, Halloween fun, a little stretching, or just showing up for a fish fry and letting somebody else cook for a change… there’s plenty of fall goodness happening around here! 😂🍂

Wellllll… apparently I have things to say again. 😂

I’ve been noticing things around Ashland, hearing things around Ashland, and generally doing what I do best… being mildly nosy about what’s going on around town. 👀😂

So here’s a little October catch-up, because there’s actually a LOT happening!

🧋 Bloom’s October menu is out — and as a BIG Hocus Pocus fan, you already know I’ll be trying the Mega Tea. 😂🧙‍♀️

🎬 Ashland Theatre: Rocky Horror is showing October 24th. 👀🎃

🚗 Auer Towing is holding a Move Over Law awareness event on October 17th.

I’ve been noticing things around Ashland, hearing things around Ashland, and generally doing what I do best… being mildly nosy about what’s going on around town. 👀😂

I’ve been a little MIA around here because life has been happening more IRL lately. 😂

Farmin’, chasing alpacas, fighting garden thieves… and now a brand-new grandbaby has joined the mix. ❤️

So I’m still here! Just living a little more and posting a little less.

Sometimes the busiest time is when you aren’t online. 😂

Running Park Market Ashland meant wearing approximately 47 different hats, and somehow “social media manager” was one of them. A title I’m still not convinced I deserved… but there I was, posting away anyway. 😂

For better or worse.
For more polished or less polished.
And occasionally exposing my shortcomings to the entire internet. You’re welcome. 😂

Social media is not for the faint of heart, but I learned that even a thin-skinned, sensitive little overthinker like me can apparently survive it. LOL

When you’re running a business, you HAVE to keep showing up online. Regular posts, updates, pictures, reminders… “HEY, WE’RE STILL HERE!” 😂

But lately?

I’ve been a little more IRL. (Did I get that right?)

And let me tell you… farmin’ will keep you humble.

I’ve got a broody hen who decided the best place to lay her eggs was UP ON A 4FT SHELF IN THE BARN. Check out the ‘side eye’ she is giving me when I have the audacity to move her to a safer location. 🙄🤣

Because apparently nesting boxes are for peasants.

I’ve got a boy alpaca who has made it his personal mission to keep me sharp by repeatedly testing my fence-mending abilities. The others DO enjoy the occasional trip outside the barn though. 🤦🏼‍♀️

And then there’s the skunk and possum who have apparently formed a tiny nighttime dining club and regularly enjoy the buffet I lovingly call my garden. 🙄😂

Add a brand-new grandbaby to the mix, and suddenly there are plenty of reasons to put the phone down and go live a little. ❤️ Shameless brag cause he’s adorable beyond belief❤️

So… I’ve been a little quiet around here.

But we all know how Facebook works.

Did it even happen?! 😂

And I’ve been gone long enough that, in Facebook time, I’m pretty sure I’ve been missing for approximately a year.

So HI. 👋😂

Still yappin’.
Still figuring things out.
Still trying to outsmart farm animals.
Still losing arguments with wildlife.
And apparently still finding things to post about. 😂

I need to get back to my very important job of documenting the nonsense. 😂

A little clarification from Graham Cracker Kritters on this beautiful country morning… 😂🌅

I did NOT buy the Parsley Pot building. The purchase belongs to Howard Hanna and Tiffany Meyer, and they deserve all the credit. 😂

Apparently, my last post caused a little confusion because several people have asked me about it. So, my bad! 🤦‍♀️😂

What caught my attention was simply the building.

It’s a tale of a local place with history, sitting out in the country (near me 😁), and the idea of seeing it become a little business again. There’s just something about old buildings getting a new life that I love. ❤️

I actually think it’s adorable that people asked. 😂 That’s the beauty of small-town life. You put something on Facebook and suddenly everybody’s doing a little investigative journalism. 😂

Which brings me to today’s other VERY important local-news update:

To my and my son’s dismay, I am officially out of the homemade Sourdough Ugly English muffins.

The regular store-bought ones had to suffice.

No pre-teens were harmed in the making of this breakfast. 😂

But, alas, they were no substitute.

So, with the many SR 71 drives ahead of me, I’ll be making a little detour to Wayne County Market for the good ones as soon as they are stocked.

Because some things are worth driving “just down the road” for…

….even when that road is 71. 😂❤️

So… apparently the official closing (Monday) of the Park Market Ashland did NOT come with a ‘more free time’ upgrade. 😂

I keep thinking, How did I run a whole store on top of all this?! Seriously. I don’t want to take ALL the credit because there were a lot of people who helped keep that place moving, but dang. 😂

These days there’s a whole lot of up-and-down-71-ing, some long nights at a children’s hospital, and a completely different kind of busy.

There’s farm stuff. LOTS of farm stuff.

We have apparently perfected the art of unloading hay with a ‘trailer dump thing’ that isn’t even attached to the truck but somehow gets the job done. 🤷‍♀️😂

The husband got to handle the finale of the yellow jacket situation because apparently after multiple attempts, I had already done the hard part of convincing most of them to leave the premises. 🐝😂

He just happened to arrive at the “let’s finish this” portion of the project before I did.

I’ll give him the credit. But I would like the record to show… I did the dangerous research and fieldwork first. 😂

And coffee… well, Park Market didn’t have anything fancy schmancy, so after a year of that, and all the quality time bouncing up and down I-71, I’m pretty well trained for a simple cup of hospital coffee waiting for me in the morning.

Oh! And did you know I have a real job?! 😂

I’ve been working on getting everything ready for AEP and Medicare season, which means my brain is currently storing approximately 47,000 things and remembering about 6 of them.

I’m also really looking forward to spending more time with Mary's Insurance Team, Ashland, Ohio. They took this new kid on the block in a year ago, supported me through all the craziness, and have been pretty darn awesome through it all. ❤️

So if you were thinking I closed the store and was sitting around eating bonbons…

I regret to inform you that the bonbons ( ) have not arrived. 😂

Apparently I just traded stocking shelves for hay, insurance, yellow jackets, I-71 miles, hospital nights and figuring out what the heck we’re doing next.

Same chaos.

Different hat. 😂❤️
