It was a long season and I got Sophia out there as much as I could. Lots of deer sightings and a couple misses during early archery season. But late season was her ticket to success. I couldn’t be more proud of this Little Lady. She braved the cold days and put the hours in. Never once complained. The mentor hunting that PA offers is a great thing and allows young hunters to get out there and learn at a younger age. So glad I could be a part of mentoring Soph. She was beyond excited. I think they may have heard me hooting with excitement in Florida. Great job my Little Lady. Can’t wait for next year. Thank you Shaynia Burns for letting me spend this quality time with her. Soph thought we were just hunting. Later in life she’ll learn it was the quality time together that meant everything to me.

That mindset leaves behind a huge opportunity — one that benefits hunters, landowners, deer herds, and local communities. It’s the opportunity to hunt does.

Pennsylvania bear hunters, SAVE THIS POST!

Pennsylvania’s bear seasons are upon us and as a responsible bear hunter you need to know what to do after you harvest a bear.

We have a few important reminders to ensure your hunt is successful all the way to the end.

✔️ Upon harvest, field dress your bear harvest and place a 3- to 4-inch stick vertically in the bear’s mouth. This will aid in the check station process, allowing staff to access the teeth more easily.
✔️ Prior to moving carcass, the bear must physically be tagged in the ear with completed harvest tag attached.
✔️ In addition to tagging your bear immediately after harvest, a bear must be checked by the Game Commission within 24 hours.
✔️ It is acceptable to only bring the ear-tagged head and hide to the check station.
