This is on Candler Road between memorial and Glenwood almost directly across the street from mother Margaret, the palm reader. There are various deeply discounted options available for people to stretch their food dollars and at the end of the day there's free food available for anyone who needs it no charge.

Somebody commented on our previous post
(the post about the local news segment mentioning food pantries and food rescue orgs as viable alternatives to SNAP):

"I am a little upset because i have been shopping at Food Commune since January. Last week the $10 crate went up to $15. Why? All the food is donated and the volunteers donate their time. Why when people are really in need would you go up on the price $5? Why?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you Michelle for shopping at Food Commune all these months:
๐Ÿ™ Thank you for reducing food waste.
๐Ÿ™ And thank you for your ongoing monetary contributions that are funding this important work of providing affordable food to people.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
We hope that you have been enjoying the great FOODS ... and also the MONEY that you have been saving by being smart: eating rescued instead of retail. ๐Ÿค“
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Any fine-tuning that we have to make from time to time .... to our donation rates or distribution hours ... is to make this org viable so that we can continue to serve people with rescued food.

Recall that we had moved this org from Edgewood Church to 368 Candler Rd in January 2024. Being on our own property, we have been able to increase our impact: get more rescued food to more people.

But this move, of course, added huge expense to our budget. FYI, We dug deep, and paid out of pocket, to be able to continue our grand-opening membership levels for nearly 2 years!

Thank you to everybody who has joined us these last 2 years. ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ
-----------------------------------------------------------------
With the triple-whammy problem of
1) food overproduction,
2) food waste, and
3) rising retail food prices,
we look forward to more people joining our solution .... our community! ... in the years to come. ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐ŸŒŽ

OMG y'all! Our California family started asking us about collards after watching this episode from PBS. What a true love letter. Some really lovely attention given to Your DeKalb Farmers Market, the city of Clarkston, and the Global Growers folks. I've got a smile on my face thinking of all the good times we had at that then neglected corner of second and Hosea.

At the Lumbee tribeโ€™s annual homecoming, Vivian samples their famous collard sandwich and learns the roots of Southern hospitality. On a trip to Clarkston, G...

Sara learned to bake in Paris, and got her start in ATL selling at Farmers Markets such as the ELF Market. Grabbing a blueberry/lemon buckle from Little Tart and a cup of coffee from my coffee shop was great way to start the morning. You can still go get her delicious baked goods in Grant Park behind 6 feet under on Memorial

"I wanted to open a bakery in Atlanta because of the incredible growing season here, and the delicious produce, including the best pecans and peaches I've tasted anywhere." - Sarah Oโ€™Brien, owner of Little Tart

Check out Farmer Champion at any of their 3 storefront locations or at the Grant Park or Peachtree Road farmers markets.

We have over 200 'likes' on our page. This is a chance to show your support in REAL LIFE! Come out and be with us Saturday afternoon (1-3), learn something, offer a donation, meet the farmers and the community. We are featuring a plant that has grown with abundance, Tulsi. Also known as Holy Basil, this herb is incredibly helpful for our bodies. There will be food drinks and tea available prepared by a few of this city's wonderful and creative chefs and medicine makers, all infused with this gift of the earth! TULSI!
