"Drive away the chill on Tuesday, February 10th, 4:30-5:30 p.m. (note: just one hour!) at the Patrick Tavern monthly winter market. The theme is Valentine’s Day, and do we have treats for you!

Cookie is offering dinners, available until sold out: Yankee Pot Roast, Chicken Pot Pie, Veggie Bowl (vegan), and Citrus Salad, along with Tomato Soup and cookies. Get there early for the best choice (all are excellent!).

We’re so happy to have Firelane 6 Winery back: Rick and Corinne Ryan will be bringing two new red wines as well as the line-up you enjoyed last summer. See the attached list for all the details. Because of the small size of the winter markets, it’s not feasible to do a tasting; but don’t worry, Corinne is excellent at wine pairings, she knows Cookie’s menu, and you’ll be pleased.

Speaking of wine pairings, red wine with dark chocolate is a classic combo for an elegant home tasting, and you can get San Pedro Sister Community chocolate bars (along with coffee, nuts and turmeric-ginger tea) before the prices have to go up at the next order.

Alicia will be bringing all the favorites: sourdough bread, cinnamon roll bread, and pizza crusts, along with a new item, whole wheat rye sourdough. (Check out the P.S., too). Alicia needs orders by Sunday night to make sure to have enough to meet your needs.

Ron will be bringing not only his honey but also honey soap - a lovely gift - in lavender, lemongrass, orange clove, peppermint, and rosemary fragrances. Ron and/or Jessanna might even have fresh eggs, if “the girls” get busy.

Jessanna will have heart ornaments, and Rob LoMascolo will bring letterpress Valentines; Debi’s working on something from Bedlam Gardens, and Julia will have crafty things, herbs, and catnip toys.

Finally, don’t forget the birds: Thane has barley grain and whole and ground corn for your wild and domestic friends. He also has black beans, for a hearty soup to warm you up after filling the feeders. Order through Linda; call/text (315) 246-1130 by Monday night, please.

It’s all at Patrick Tavern Market this Tuesday, Feb. 10, for just one hour, 4:30-5:30 p.m. The room will be warm, the company warmer, and the jazz on vinyl will be hot!

P.S. With all the attention to folks buying up bread before storms, why not get ahead and freeze some of Alicia’s bread? Slice your loaf before wrapping (double-bagging or bag then wrap in foil), and you can take out just what you need. If the freezer on your refrigerator is pretty full, you can divide the loaf among several bags to fit. Is your freezer jammed? Just get pizza crusts; they’re good for much more than pizza and sure to fit. Quarter and toast them for flatbread (brush with butter or oil and sprinkle on Julia’s herb seasoning), or grill a sandwich. Go sweet with some of Ron’s honey; pizza crusts are a versatile bread."

"The last Patrick Tavern Market of 2025, this Tuesday, Dec. 9, 4:30-5:30 p.m. - fondly known as “Christmas in Aurora: The Sequel” - is one more chance to fill the pantry, dress the table, and shop local handmade gifts. Now, we’re excited to add, you can order a delicious sandwich and/or soup from Auburn’s Café 108.

You can see the full line-up of offerings on https://www.auburncafe108.com/ or a shorter selection, pasted below. Chef Gregg recommends ordering through this market (you know the drill: reply to this email or call/text Linda at (315) 246-1130) so that we can be sure all the orders for Aurora are together; you may pay at pick-up. The everyday soup is chicken rice; the other will be vegan. He is glad to customize any sandwich option for vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free.

Now that you’re fortified, on to the shopping! We’re so glad to have Rob LoMascolo back with us; he writes, “I will be there with my letterpress Christmas and Holiday cards and ornaments. I will bring the classics, as well as a number of new items.” When he says “new,” don’t miss it! Bedlam Gardens' Debi and Julia Lampman will have fresh wreaths and swags (custom bows available), colorful dried flower bouquets, herb mixes, and pet gifts. Ron will get to the market around 5 p.m. with honey, candles, and apples (Snapdragon and Empire). Alicia will have her eagerly awaited sourdough bread. She’ll bring some extra, so get a loaf to put in the freezer, too. At Linda’s table, there will be Benlauck Farms’ potatoes, winter squash, black beans, and both whole and coarse-ground dried corn, a treat for domestic and wild birds (and the inevitable squirrels). Linda will also have a few little woolly sheep and other ornaments. There will be San Pedro Sister Community chocolate bars, and maybe a chance to save a stamp by giving your check directly to support this well-loved and worthy project. See you at Patrick Tavern!"

"It’s a busy week, leading up to Christmas in Aurora, so this week's announcement is brief. The Patrick Tavern Market, Tuesday 4:30-5:30 p.m., continues to offer excellent local produce and more. Potatoes (red and white), winter squash (Butternut and Acorn), and Black Turtle beans from Benlauck Farm are still available for your hearty winter meals. You’ve just got to see the size of scallions from Debi’s Bedlam Gardens: crisp, tasty, and fresh, and as large as leeks. Debi also has more of her gorgeous wreaths, with a bow of your choice, along with colorful dried flower bouquets. Julia will have her dried herbs - check out her Italian seasoning blend! - along with cat toys and dog scarves. Alicia brings a tableful of sourdough bread and pizza crusts, along with something sweet. San Pedro Sister Community’s chocolate, tea and coffee are on hand, as are several sizes of Ron’s excellent honey.

Tuesday is the last day to see the display “From Main to the Kicking Tree: Daily Walks in Aurora, circa 1905.” Catch it while you still can!

Finally, don’t forget to stop by for Christmas in Aurora, Dec. 6, 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for artisan demonstrations and gifts, along with Cookie’s soups and pulled pork; watch for upcoming news soon."

"This week at the Patrick Tavern Market, Tuesday 4:30-5:30 pm, you can jump the season a tiny bit and get one of Debi’s beautiful handmade fresh evergreen wreaths. They were a delightful surprise last week, and more are on the way for this week. Bedlam Gardens will also have Honeyboat squash (how good they were at last week’s Harvest Supper!), scallions (big, tasty, and crisp), and colorful dried flowers. Julia will have dried herbs; be sure to get some to take your stuffing to the next level. Of course, she’ll also have cat toys and dog neck scarves.

Alicia will be bringing pizza crust (a great way to use leftovers), slightly-sour sourdough bread, brownies, and samples of Shoo-fly Pie; a different pie to order for the big day. Ron has left a good assortment of honey, and there are still some of the San Pedro Sister Community’s chocolate bars. They sell fast, so be sure to stop by!

At Linda’s table, you’ll find Benlauck Farm potatoes (red and white) and the last of Thane’s winter squash (butternut, acorn, and spaghetti). If you’d like 5 lbs. or more of potatoes (specify red or white), please text Linda by Monday evening (315-246-1130). Also, those Thanksgiving leftovers would make a wonderful soup with Thane’s Black Turtle Beans; plenty on hand. His barley straw is tucking several local gardens to bed for the winter; text Linda if you want to know more. Also, Thane offers feed grade whole and ground corn. Corn can be a great winter supplement for some birds, domestic and wild; do a bit of research and stop by Linda’s table to discuss.

Finally, the display “From Main to the Kicking Tree: Daily Walks in Aurora, circa 1905” has just a few more dates to run: this Tuesday, Saturday11/29 (11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), and - last day! - Tuesday, Dec. 2. It’s loads of fun; don’t miss it! "

"This week at the Patrick Tavern Market, Tuesday 4:30-5:30 pm, let’s lead off with Benlauck Farm, owned by Navy veteran Thane Benson. Thane seldom gets to Aurora - he’s more often on his tractor or in his terrific workshop (once a Seabee, always a Seabee) - but his produce is a mainstay of the market from corn season on, sold at Linda’s table. This week, you can get potatoes (red and white), winter squash (acorn, butternut, and spaghetti), the last of the Jonagold apples and the first of the new crop of dried Black Turtle Beans, a soup favorite. Gardeners: Thane also sells beautiful barley straw to put your garden to bed for the winter, at $7/bale. If you are interested, please call/text Linda, (315) 246-1130, who will try to put together a truckload for Thane to deliver.

Bedlam Gardens has more soup fare on offer: leeks (limited quantity) and herbs (parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, just like the song). The darker the days, the more welcome are Debi’s bright bouquets of dried flowers! Julia will have dried herbs, small potted plants, and with a little luck, the last of the peppers - and they’ll be hot! Cat toys, too, of course.

Alicia will bring her fresh-baked breads, along with something sweet; Emberli’s red, white, and blue potholders strike a patriotic note. Ron has left a good assortment of honey, and there will be the San Pedro Sister Community’s chocolate bars. They sell fast, so be sure to stop by!

Also a shout-out to veteran-owned Centurion Farm: Jeff Saeli is a veteran of both the Marine Corps and the Army, and Nina Saeli of the Army. There was no pork for single cuts this fall and Jeff’s supplies of organic vegetables are dwindling, so there’s no pick-up the rest of the year. However, you’re welcome to visit the stand at 287 Creek Road in Locke, or call/text (607) 592-5810 to see what’s still available.

Finally, while you’re in Patrick Tavern, take a few minutes to see the current display, “From Main to the Kicking Tree: Daily Walks in Aurora, circa 1905.” Regular Saturday hours, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. are available too. See you at Patrick Tavern!"

"It’s the season of time change, and this week at the Patrick Tavern Market we’ve entered fall hours accordingly: 4:30-5:30 pm. Please note the earlier closing; you probably want to be home a little earlier too!

Last week’s tables were filled with colorful vegetables and fruits, and beautiful dried flower bouquets added to the festive atmosphere. Expect the same this week: Debi reports that Bedlam Gardens will have Swiss chard, lots of leeks, Honey Boat squash, dried flower bouquets, herbs, limited sweet potatoes, and the last of the beets. Julia will have peppers, dried herbs (her Italian seasoning blend has been popular), small house plants, and cat toys - a touch of joy for your pets.

At Linda’s table, you can find the last of the Yukon Gold potatoes (next week, expect red and white potatoes), Jonagold apples, and butternut and acorn squash, all from Benlauck Farm. There are also a few pints of delicious grapes remaining from a special purchase in Naples. Be sure to stop by for this seasonal treat!

Alicia will be offering her fresh-baked breads, along with something sweet. Ron has left a good assortment of honey for you, and the San Pedro Sister Community’s order has come in, so chocolate bars are back in stock!

Since there was no Centurion Farm pork this fall and Jeff’s vegetable supplies are dwindling, there will be no regular pick-up at Jeff’s and Nina’s Centurion Farm, but you’re welcome to visit the stand at 287 Creek Road in Locke, or call/text (607) 592-5810.

Finally, while you’re in Patrick Tavern, take a few minutes to see the current display, “From Main to the Kicking Tree: Daily Walks in Aurora, circa 1905.” Regular Saturday hours, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. are available too. It’s all at Patrick Tavern!"

This week’s list for the Patrick Tavern Market, Tuesday, 4:30-6:00 pm is a bit rushed because we’re all busy getting ready for the frost; as Debi comments, “just too many house plants.”

At Linda’s table, Benlauck Farm potatoes (Yukon Gold), Northern Spy apples, and butternut squash. Also at Linda’s table, a special buy from Naples NY: tricolor grape pints (Concord, Niagara, and pink Vergennes). The Centurion Farm list of organic vegetables is below; call/text Jeff at 607-592-5810 by Monday evening to order, and copy Linda at (315) 246-1130.

Alicia will have baked goods and apple crisp. Ron has replenished the honey store and there are some Fair Trade chocolate bars on hand as we await word on the latest order with San Pedro Sister Community.

Bedlam Gardens will have Honeyboat squash, Asian pears (limited amount), herbs; beets, chard , leeks, shallots, sweet potatoes, and dried flower bouquets Julia will have lots of peppers in all colors and flavors, so get plenty and freeze some for that fresh pepper taste this winter! A few tomatoes - fingers crossed - along with dried herbs, potted plants, and seasonal cat toys. Check them out!

Take a few minutes to stop in to see the display, “From Main to the Kicking Tree: Daily Walks in Aurora, circa 1905.” The Chases have added a beautiful display of Morgan Series postcards, on loan for your enjoyment. Regular Saturday hours, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. are available too. It’s all at Patrick Tavern!

"This week at the Patrick Tavern Market, Tuesday, 4:30-6:00 p.m., we’re delighted to have Ron back in person, with new goldenrod honey, bee pollen, and free-range eggs. He will bring some SnapDragon apples that taste like the popular HoneyCrisp, but are a darker red and smaller, and will also bring some butternut squash.

Debi report that Bedlam Gardens will have dried flower bouquets, herbs, Swiss Chard, beets, leeks, garlic, shallots, and Asian pears. Check out her sweet potatoes, both white and purple fleshed, and her winter squash, HoneyBoat. This delicata-type squash is delicious roasted, and its tender rind is fully edible.

Julia will have many peppers - sweet, spicy, and hot - in many colors. It's a good time to get extras and freeze some for this winter; easy and quick to do. She’ll have some tomatoes, though this may be the end of the season for them. Kale is coming into its own, however; frost makes it sweeter. Check out her mini pots of succulents: the price is right, they’re great for gifts, along with dried herbs and cat toys

Alicia will have cinnamon raisin bread, pizza crusts and chocolate muffins; she’ll also be selling Thane’s Jonagold apples and Yukon Gold potatoes. Rob will bring a selection of letterpress cards. There will, of course, be fair-trade chocolate bars from the San Pedro Sister Community. There’s no pick up service to Locke this week, so watch for next week’s Centurion Farm list.

And do stop in to see the display, “From Main to the Kicking Tree: Daily Walks in Aurora, circa 1905.” You’ll find so many interesting stories that you’ll want to visit more than once. Regular Saturday hours, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. are available too. It’s all at Patrick Tavern!"

"Special prices at this week’s Patrick Tavern Market, Tuesday, 4:30-6:00 p.m. help you take advantage of the season’s abundance. It’s still good weather to plant (but keep the new plantings watered!) and Nina has reduced her prices on fruiting shrubs, while adding new medicinal herbs to the inventory: Catnip, Beebalm, Lemon balm, and Motherwort. Read about it on her Centurion Farm Nursery List google sheet. In addition to his regular veggie list (see below), Jeff might have bulk quantities of organic paste tomatoes left; call/text 607-592-5810 by Monday evening, and copy Linda at (315) 246-1130 to order these Centurion Farm specialties.

For a beautiful range of heirloom tomatoes - from a quart to a bushel - stop at Julia’s tent: she has tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants in many colors, sizes, and flavors. Bedlam Gardens will have flowers, Asian pears, Swiss chard, beets, leeks, shallots, garlic, and herbs: basil, parsley, oregano, thyme, mints, and sage. The Asian pears are crisp, different, and delicious.

You can also order apples and potatoes in bulk from Thane’s Benlauck Farm; he’s got Empire, JonaGold, Golden Delicious, and Honeycrisp apples at $20/bushel, and Red, White, and Yukon Gold potatoes at $20/50 lb. Order by Monday evening, please; text Linda at (315) 246-1130. If that seems like a lot, maybe you’d like to split a bushel or a bag with friends. If you really just want a quart (about 2 lb), there will be several varieties of apples in smaller quantities on hand, along with Yukon Gold potatoes.

Alicia will be bringing sandwich bread, pizza crusts, and blueberry muffins. For a quick and spectacular meal, try a pizza crust topped with chopped herbs (in a bit of oil), thin slices of heirloom tomato (visit Julia and Debi for those) and your favorite shredded cheese; about 20 min at 400F should get it browned and bubbling.

Cathy will make sure we have fair-trade chocolate bars on hand; Ron is still busy with honey extraction, but the market keeps his honey on hand. If you’d like a larger jar (2 lbs and up), it’s good to text Linda (315-246-1130) to see if we have it or if not, to place an order. Again, by Monday evening, please.

Finally, don’t forget that you can order beef from nearby Will-Sho Farm; check out the great selection of products, along with order information, at https://www.willshofarm.com/order. Give Will a call with your order by Monday evening and tell him you’d like Linda to deliver it to the Patrick Tavern Market.

And do stop in to see the new display, “From Main to the Kicking Tree: Daily Walks in Aurora, circa 1905.” You’ll find so many interesting stories that you’ll want to visit more than once. Watch for special open hours this weekend, too!
