Oops, we started a Farm -an ATX Homestead

Due to relocation and job change our little Homestead will be taking a hiatus for now. Though it is sad to stop this journey at this time it’s with hopeful hearts we start our new adventure! We hope to be back up and running soon as this is not goodbye just see y’all later.

At this time I am selling my brooder: it’s a 40 gal terrarium with two swinging doors, two heat lamps with extra bulbs, wooden wall hanging to hold the lamps and a huge stock pile of puppy pads. Asking 💰175 obo will be available Sunday the 18th when the two chicks in there now go to their new home.

Here at Oops! We started a Farm! Our incubators are full, so we are offering twelve third generation Celadon Hatching eggs for $35! The oldest egg is only three days old.
These are the bluest of our celadon eggs, we have more that aren’t as blue due to the bloom that we can also discuss at $2 an egg.

We have a Vader, a solid white, a silver, a golden and one that is very close to a perfect king/Chinese painted.

Here at Oops! We Started a Farm! We have a very special little lady, meet Snowdrop!

She’s a pure white coturnix that came to us via a rescue. Snowdrop was found on the side of the road in Austin and labeled a “small chicken”. We volunteered to give her a home and she’s been absolutely delightful! Though she doesn’t like to share her space. When she was put with our flock she seemed depressed and would stand in a corner staring at the walls. She wasn’t being bullied she just chose to distance herself. So, we gave her a private room and she’s really come to life! She’s chatty, doesn’t mind being held and started laying eggs.

Snowdrop has a few quirks, like she seems to think she’s a duck not a quail. She likes to stand in her water dish for upwards of ten minutes at a time. Every time we refresh her water she’s climbing into it for a soak.

Snowdrop also has fascinating eggs, not a single one is like the last one. She lays so many different colors, including blue!

Here at Oops We Started a Farm! we offer a variety of services including build your own flock! You can pick out any eggs you’d like to incubate and we’ll load up the incubator with your eggs! We even offer a service of raising the chicks in our brooders until fully feathered and ready to go home.

Our first family had a 50% hatch rate! Just look at these cute little balls of fluff!

We’ve had a busy week here at Oops We Started a Farm!

We hosted a couple of Homeschooling Families for a Q&A class on Quail. We talked about how to s*x the birds, feather s*xing our Coturnix and also had a demo on vent s*xing. We discussed the differences in chicken eggs versus quail eggs and compared size differences between chicken eggs, coturnix and button quail eggs. We talked about handling, habitats, feed and general care. We even had a lesson on breeding programs. The families then took home 10 of our button quails! We’re so excited to know that our babies are going home with families that will love and care for them!
